Petrino back to Arkansas...

The DC hire Travis Williams was looking like a great get until late in the season. Improved the Arkansas defense over Odom by quite a bit, but the offense kept leaving them out to dry so they eventually wore down. Led the SEC in defensive scores though.

In the SEC maybe but he's definitely not up there with Frank Broyles or Lou Holtz. He's a better coach than Nutt but even Nutt has him beat with two trips to Atlanta, Petrino just didn't coach long enough at Arkansas.
To be fair, he also has had a long, career history of “not coaching long enough” at seemingly everywhere he’s gone.

I’ve never understood why people want to re-hire a problem
The things he did at Auburn and to the Falcons would be enough of a red flag for most folks. But it's off the charts insane for Arkansas to hand that guy 7 figures after he's publicly cheated on his wife, created a conflict of interest, flat out lied to his boss and publicly embarrassed the University.

Dude is legitimately just not a good guy.

I believe he was told “he’d hire Petrino”. This has “booster decision” smell all over it.
Most likely. No idea if true but supposedly there was an agreement to let Pittman stay if his buyout money could be reallocated to NIL and Petrino being OC was one of the requirements from one/some of the boosters for letting him get another year.

I totally agree with you. It’s just not a good idea to have him around any program. I just don’t know what they were thinking

Petrino and Durkin on the same staff at ATM was somehow fitting.

Evidently all the piggies have forgotten what an embarrassment Petrino was. Bring back the philandering idiot. Nothing ever too embarrassing for the sake of a few wins I guess. Oh well, not our problem.
half our fan base still wanted Kiffin before we got Heupel. Even when we hired Heupel they still preferred Kiffin until 2022, and a bunch were cheering for him this year too.

Pittman has been one of the best offensive line coaches in the SEC for some time. Petrino is not a bad hire for the OC position compared to what else there was. I think the worst thing that happened to Pittman was losing Briles as OC with KJ having 1-2 years left.

Petrino is by no means a bad hire at OC. Sort of surprised to be honest that they were able to hire someone with his record of offensive output.
