The worst part is Phil or Matt SImms have about as much chance of playing the NFL (again) as Manning w that non fused neck 2 months post op... still has weakness in his throwing arm and the Vertebrae still havent fused via the bone graft they took from his hip... Just one step closer from being the UT HC

Totally different subject, but IMO, Peyton will never have anything to do with coaching UT football.

I will agree that he is a VFL, and would do anything to help the university, but would he take the risk of having a couple of bad seasons and being burnt alive by the negavol fan base?

I don't think he would take that gamble....

And the rest of the story:

Shortly after being questioned by a family member about his comment, Manning called to make his clarification. In fact, he also called Simms.

"I guess we're even now," said Manning with a laugh. "I was trying to bust his chops back but I guess it didn't come out right. It's all good."

Simms said, "We had a good laugh. But I know how this thing plays out in the media. It won't be in context but I don't care."

I really don't understand how this turned into a Matt Simms dissing thread.

Simms is a good guy and played hard for this team. He has taken a lot more hits for this program than 99% of the douchebags on here who talk trash about him.

Just sayin

Got to agree with ya Chatt-town. I don't care what people think or say about Phil Simms, but Matt is a Vol - and this is a Vol forum. The f***tards that take glee in bashing one of our players need their mullets washed with kerosene. Get real people. We all know that Matt is not an SEC caliber QB, but it is what it is. The kid wears orange, has been beat up by the SEC best while trying to do his best, and still keeps his chin up. Matt will not go down in UT's history as a great QB, but he will be known as one that helped UT get over the hump.

Yep, with his tremendous wealth of college football coaching experience, he should be high on everyone's HC shopping list.
