goins is the only option at this point...golden is about as bad of a player as I have ever seen and ware should start over him next season...we lost 4 very good players last season...this season is what is is...lets make the tourny, take our loss whenever it happens and work on next season

First off, you must be nodding off while McBee and Stevie are out there.

But, to the point (so to speak). If a point guard's job is to dispense the ball while limiting turnovers, then Golden is excellent. (On a side note, Bruce keeps recruiting what he calls "scoring point guards", but when McBee took Golden's spot, he said it was because they weren't getting good distribution from him. Unfortunately, the assessment simply isn't true.)

Here are the numbers for three "point guards"; as usual it's per 40 minutes:

#1
4.8 assists, 4.1 turnovers, 2.0 steals
14.6 fg attempts, 39% fg,
6.9 3pt attempts, 38% threes
3.1 ft attempts, 79%

#2
6.7 assists, 3.3 turnovers, 1.8 steals
8.8 fg attempts, 30% fg,
1.0 3pt attempts, 21% threes
4.1 ft attempts, 81%

#3
4.3 assists, 2.6 turnovers, 2.6 steals
10.2 fg attempts, 36% fg
3.7 3pt attempts, 32% threes
4.0 ft attempts, 78%

All three lay bricks. #2 is the worst percentage wise, but he shoots less and draws more fouls. If dispensing is what you want from your point guard, (and it may not be, of course) then #2 is the clear winner.

#1 is Selby, #2 is Golden, #3 is Goins.
