We know we have Maze but who will be backing him up early on in the season? Goins is recovering from surgery and may miss a few games so with Tabb most likely not coming back who on the team will be our backup point? I hope to god we have someone else who can play point other than JP Prince.

I don't think Bone is eligible until January, and I also don't think McBee is ready to assume any PG duties at UT.
Assuming Josh Tabb's suspension is still in effect, that would leave Bobby Maze, J.P. Prince, and Michael Hubert to handle the PG position.
Hopefully Goins will make a speedy recovery.
Nothing I have seen from Hubert makes me believe that. Prince or McBee will play the point if Goins isn't ready, imo.
Thanks for your opinion, but McBee is not an SEC PG. Not now, and maybe not ever. I'm also not saying Hubert is an SEC-caliber PG. However, if Goins, Tabb, and Bone can't play... Hubert would see minutes at PG before McBee.
I don't know about you, but I would much rather play a someone who is somewhat capable of matching up athletically in Div. 1 rather than pulling a kid out of the rec-center because he handles the ball slightly better but doesn't have a prayer of being able to guard anyone on the floor. Maybe you're right and that's what Pearl would do, but I think it would be a joke to put Hubert out there and leave McBee on the bench because of marginally better ball handling.
I seriously doubt that McBee is even practicing the PG position.
Hubert or Prince will probably be the PG if Goins is not ready at the beginning of the season. Goins will really not be needed until Nov. 21st, so I'm pretty sure he will be ready by then. If not, Tabb's indefinite suspension will be over. You can't just make anybody a PG over night if they have never played the position, no matter how good of an athlete they are.
It would be a joke to have Hubert on the floor, and I hope it doesn't happen. However, like I said before, if UT needed a ball-handler and Goins, Tabb and Bone can't play, Prince or Hubert would help out Maze.
It would likely be Prince to keep Hubert off the floor. McBee can obviously shoot the ball very well. When he's ready to play, he'll likely see most of his time at the 2.
McBee played the 2 in high school just like every other guard that Pearl has recruited to play pg.
That doesn't really tell us a whole lot. With improved ball-handling, most SGs can play PG. Also, UT's ball-handling hasn't been that great over the last few years. Recently, Pearl has brought in Maze (JUCO PG) and tried to bring in Daniel West (HS PG), Josh Selby (HS PG), and Aaron Craft (HS PG). We're desperate for a true PG.
I agree. And you may be right in Hubert going in; I was just saying if it was me, I would go with McBee.
Can McBee play any point? He may end up being our emergency guy if someone goes down. Or Josh Bone? I don't know anything about him though.
McBee played as much 1 as he did 2 in High School. He had to. Marshall, Santa Clara, and East Carolina were all recruiting him as a combo guard that could play either the 1 or 2. You are selling him short if you think he can't play the 1.
