Who's post were you referring too? I can't find one that mentions moral victories.

That score sounds about right...I wont be too mad if we show improvement and are competitive.

That's a moral victory. We've slid so far as a program that we don't even care about winning. We just don't want to get clowned on national television.

It's completely pathetic.

"You play to win the game." Unless you're just satisfied with being competitive.

What's their secondary like? Do you guys think Bray can throw against their db's. We've heard about their offense & D-line. You guys think maybe some short hitch passes & screen passes would lossen up that GA. defense? Any kind of trick plays in the game?

That's 1 persons opinion.

Nobody knows for a fact exactly what's going to happen beforehand.

That's why they play the games my friend.

Appy state had 0 chance against michigan but they won.

La-Monroe had 0 chance against alaBubba but they won.

We can list unlikely Wins forever but the only thing that matters is the score after the game is played.

Maybe the football will bounce UT's way the whole game and we'll shock the world which will be just fine with me.

VFL...GBO!!!

Vegas knows.

Exactly. Moral victories are for Vandy, not UT. We have been losing too long to have moral victories.

If the program continues down the current path then our victories against sub-par competition and moral victories against our SEC brethren will be all we have.

He's a homer. He relies too much on history with his picks and doesn't do enough "today" analysis.

One reason I think the Vols have a better chance that folks are giving them credit for is the fact that UGA has it's biggest game of the year next week at South Carolina. With everyone saying this game is a lock, they will be looking ahead. Classic trap game. I just wish it was being played in K-town.

Phil is one of the best in the business, period, his methods work. He was the only guy to predict our let down in 2005... Been following him since.

Regardless, you have a good point on Georgia possibly looking ahead. But even if they are we will have to play good football to win.

His methods work when analyzing traditional powerhouse teams. They do not work for up and coming teams. Looking at 10 years of previous match ups in college football (which is what Phil does) is a useless metric.

Case in point. This year (before the season started) he predicted Tennessee to be ranked higher in the SEC than South Carolina. Does ANYONE here see that happening as of right now? (I'm sure he had SC losing to LSU, UGA and Arky. Looks like the Arky loss ain't happening). He has the Gators running the table and winning the east. I don't see that happening either.

This is the wrong attitude bro. We as Vol fans need to demand winning. No moral victories anymore. This is garbage to see and we deserve excellence. Demand winning victories bro...this means we've improved and are competitive.

I definitely think Bray can throw against their DBs. The question is, can he throw with all the pressure he's gonna be getting? They ate him up last year and their front 7 are better this year.

You are defining his methods in a simplistic sense. He uses historical data, yes, but also considers the intangibles such as coaching competencies, coaching changes, roster changes, scheduling, etc. He received ridicule for his lofty expectations of the gators this yet, and unfortunately so far he is right.

And unfortunately he is probably right about our game this weekend too.

Only posting this on here because I don't think I have enough posts to start a thread:

Anyone got tickets for the Mississippi State game they're looking to sell?

Thanks
...and thanks for reminding everyone on here why we have that rule.

I'll be surprised if UGA beats us this year. They don't carry the same psychological weight some of our other rivals have. If we come to play and they don't bring their A game, I like our chances.

IF and that's a big if, we play 60 minutes, then we will win. Im not worried about talent because we got all the talent we need. If this team can mentally get through a full game we will win this thing. Dooley's just got to rally the troops if things go south. With all that said, we have yet to do so, so im not counting the chickens just yet.
