Pick the Score Contest: Tennessee vs Auburn

This was a tough week to evaluate who had the closest prediction. Freak, here are the "best guesses"... you can decide who wins.

Final Result: Auburn 55 - 23 Tennessee
Lane: 53 yards rushing

TDawg: AUB 48 - 17 TEN / Lane 48 yards
(Closest guess to both scores, won tiebreaker against another 48-17 prediction)

creekerballer: AUB 42 - 10 TEN / Lane 54 yards
(Got the margin of loss correct (32 points) with the closest tiebreaker)

Vols4ever: AUB 38 - 23 TEN / 67 yards
(Closest guess to score while having ONE of the teams' actual total correct)

To toot my own horn, I (unfortunately) predicted the Vols to also have 23 points and was only off on the TB by 1 yard (54).

Good luck on this one Freak. I'm a little frustrated after that performance... if we choke it up against Vandy in two weeks, I might not be capable of sorting through the rubble.

Not sure how you'd consider yourself closest. You did not guess either score correctly. Your margin of loss was 17, and someone correctly guessed 32. In regards to the closest guess to BOTH scores, for AUB you were off by 10 and for TENN, off by 5, totalling a point differential of 15. I used 48-17 as the "closest to both scores," which is off on AUB by 7 and TENN by 6, equaling 13.

So, in short, yes, you were closer (by one point) to Tennessee's score than 48-17, but in guessing the closest score for both teams, 48-17 takes it. Furthermore, 48-17 is a margin difference of 31 points, whereas your 45-28 prediction is only 17.

Again, there are three different ways to judge who was 'closest', as I've provided for Freak, so this may be a moot argument.

Wow u must of came up with this formula all by yourself genius... So in short your saying your freaks assistant,, or no his secretary.. Im sure Your VolNation Intership will pay off big eventually my man..

I'm not sure what exactly you're getting at. I am deployed right now for the military, and I work a Comm job on night shift. There isn't a lot of action, and considering I have an abundance of free time, I spend a lot of that time watching football and spending it on this forum. Now, I didn't come up with any "formula." I listed three possible winners, each based on a different premise of proximity to the actual score. Now, if you can explain why your 45-28 prediction is a legitimate contender to the 'closest' prediction, then by all means, please do. In my post, I pointed out that I wasn't sure how Freak wanted to evaluate it, and I listed the options. Furthermore, it appears that you may be slightly butthurt, because for one you probably thought you were this week's winner, and for two because UT just got blown out (again). Regardless, that in no way justifies attacking or condescending me for only trying to assist/contribute to a contest on a forum. Anyway, it's not up for me to decide. Good luck in your argument, though. :eek:k:

If these are the best picks, TDawg is closest. This isn't as hard as you guys are making it. He picked the winner and is off by 13 total points. He is the closest.

I agree, and that is why I listed TDawg first. Nevertheless, there may be other factors that Freak considers, so I was just making him aware.

Just to clear up any confusion, the winner is determined by the smallest difference in score.

If Tdawg picked 48-17 and the score was 55-23, then he missed it by 7+6=13. So, unless someone got closer than 13, Tdawg is the winner.

He predicted 48, i thought i read 40. But he had 13 points off of original score i had 18 points off of original score. Sorry about the misread.
