Pick the series I should start watching on Netflix

It was more about the hyperbole in your comment.

Lol you always disagree with peoples opinions. If he thinks it's the 2 best shows, that's his opinion. Personally I prefer Justified over BB. Its a matter of taste, you get so bent if someone doesn't agree with you. It cracks me up. Lol

This is no contest, Breaking Bad, hands down.

And then you should download Justified, and Homeland.

We got Netflix pretty recently as well

I couldn't wait to test the streaming ability so I just started watching Mad Men the first night that we had it and I watched 1-2 eps every night until I was all the way caught up (had to DL the most recent season). I would recommend that show to anyone.

We started Breaking Bad about a week ago and haven't been able to stop.

There's always comedy shows too. 30 Rock, Parks and Rec, Workaholics, The League, on and on and on

You really can't lose with Netflix, there's so many shows.

We got HBO Go too and made the mistake of trying to start Sopranos at the same time as Breaking Bad. I went back and watched Band Of Brothers and The Pacific as well. Going to watch The Wire all the way through for the 10th or 11th time whenever I'm done with Breaking Bad.

Wait until you see how Walter's character transforms...

All I'll say.

BB & TWD are EASILY the two best shows on TV.

Watch Game of Thrones and get back to me. Boardwalk Empire, Homeland, and Doctor Who also say hi. But, BB is my 2nd favorite on TV currently.

I still haven't seen a show that tops The Wire.

But I really like Mad Men and Breaking Bad.

I LOVE Homeland.

Dexter kind of fell off IMO, but this season is getting better.

The Walking Dead is good.

Can't wait for Game of Thrones to pick back up (WINTER IS COMING!!).

I started watching Sons of Anarchy, and it's pretty good thus far.

I watched the first season of Boardwalk Empire and need to catch back up.

I've seen a few episodes of The Newsroom, but never finished the season or stayed in the loop on it.

Saw a few episodes of Downton Abbey and it's very different and interesting. Not like those other shows though.

Saw the first episode of Luther and I can't wait to take the time to get into that show.

Not really naming off a top 10 in order or anything, just rolling some shows off the top of my head.

If you have HBO Go, or can download shows, go back and watch (in no particular order) Rome, Sopranos, The Wire, Eastbound and Down, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Oz, Deadwood, Band Of Brothers, The Pacific, Generation Kill.

Typing all of those HBO shows out reminds me that I need to see if they have Arli$$ on there as well.

When I was watching the Emmy's earlier this year they had the lead actor from Homeland up to accept an award and he called this "The new Golden Age of Television." It was an interesting statement, but it's hard to refute that statement. There are so many good series going right now that it's almost overwhelming.

I love it though, and I hope that AMC, FX, and the paid networks keep cranking out shows.

I've never watched GOT, but I've wanted to ever since it came out...

The only other show, of those you listed, that I don't watch is Doctor Who. (never heard of it actually)

BE is good, but I'm not enthralled like I was with The Soprano's (both Terence Winter).

Homeland is awesome, no argument there. It's definitely in my top 3-5.

Another show I would list is Dexter, although the last few seasons have been kind of....eh, but the first 4 seasons were all-timers in my book.

But Breaking Bad...oye. You love Walter White...you hate Walter White. You want him to evade the DEA & police, then you want them to find him & put him in a cell for the rest of his life.

Plus...Gus Fring (without giving anything away). WOW.

I've always heard that about The Wire...but then, I heard that about "The Shield" as well.

BOTH are shows that are right down my alley but never watched...unfortunately.

if you don't mind watching shows on your laptop or tablet, I would highly recommend getting an HBO subscription just for the HBO Go service. I love it.

I have Netflix and HBO Go on my iPad and it's like having a portable TV.

ARE YOU CRAZY?!?!??!?!!?

Watch both at whatever cost. The Wire is THAT good.

:lolabove:

When The Wire came out I didn't have HBO. When I finally got it, it was already in its third season.

I'm not in college anymore, if not for DVR, I'd NEVER have time to watch anything...although my 4 year old daughter has been trying to watch TWD with my wife and I for a while now (kind of awesome of her, but I'm not "that parent").

I wish The Wire was on Netflix...

I have that same problem :cray:

I've sacrificed sleep to catch up on TV shows

I'm not mad. It just doesn't make any sense to say something is "easily" that much better than everything else when it isn't. Is TWD "easily" better than Mad Men, Justified, GoT, or a handful of other shows? No. Are they all good? Yes. I'm just trying to be objective.

I understood your point...my statement was just my opinion, which I still stand by.

The Soprano's is the only other show I've been as infatuated with as I am about TWD.

***spoiler alert***

I'll admit, the second season lagged a bit on the farm but the sheer emotion it created when Sophia staggered out of the barn....wow.

And the first season--remarkable.

Although, I have to admit, if I wasn't a father, I don't know that Rick being separated from his family to begin the series or Carol losing Sophia would register as much with me..........my daughter has turned me into a wuss.

For some people yes it probably is easily better. For me personally its better than Mad Men, and The Shield is easily better than both for me. I understand the objectivity part, but telling someone their opinion is wrong just strikes me as funny. Wasn't being a d**k just made me laugh is all. Lol

I guess my biggest issue is the use of "easily". Most of these shows we are talking are, for the most part, considered to be some of the best on tv. If one is really truly that much better than another, where does that leave something like CSI or one of those CBS sitcoms made for old people? You can like one more than the other, depending on your personal taste, but objectively they aren't really that far apart on a quality scale.

Do yourself a favor and watch the first of GOT. It is spectacular television.

Doctor Who(a British series, which is probably the reason you have never heard of it) isn't for everyone but it is a great mix of sci-fi and numerous othe genres.

Dexter is back on track for me with this season.

Boardwalk can be slower paced than the Sopranos at times. That doesn't bother me because I enjoy the Prohibition era setting and it has some fascinating fictional characters mixing it up with legendary gangsters.
