I don't get that one. Mississippi St was 3-8 last year. I know they are improved, but I can't imagine that they are going to go to Columbia on opening night and play SC that tight.

The game is in Starkville.

You're right . . . That makes it not quite as bad, but I still don't quite get the line though.

To those predicting SC in a romp or bashing MSU:

Remember, SC was EXTREMELY lucky to perform the way they did last season. They played over their potential, and MSU has improved every year under Croom.

I think SC wins by around 8-10, but this game won't be a 35-10 affair. The Bulldogs did lose Norwood, but SC's run defense stunk and could get worse. I'm not sold on Mitchell, and they also lost their top 7 tacklers. Some of my most respected sharps are picking MSU to cover the +7 (and even the +6.5).

What about him are you not sold on? I think Blake Mitchell to Sidney Rice is one of the more dangerous combinations going in the entire SEC this year.

hatvol to Sidney Rice is one of the more dangerous combos in the SEC. I think Sideny Rice makes Mitchell look better than he is. Mitchell threw 17 TD passes, 13 of which were to Rice. SC threw for less than 200 yards 5 times last season, the same number of times Tennessee did. Also, the SC Oline will take a step back, making Mike Davis more ineffective, and giving Mitchell a little less time.

Don't get me wrong, he's a decent SEC QB, but the entire SC squad overperformed.

I think you're right to an extent, but they really should have probably won the last 2 games of the year, so I think their luck pretty much evened out.

They won 1 of their last 2.

SC was +2 in close wins last season, so not as overperforming as I implied, but still luckier than some.

I thought they lost a close one to Clemson and then blew a lead in their Bowl game.

I don't really count bowl games. So many different unimportant outcomes. Well, I worry about the BCS, but UT losing to Maryland or Clemson isn't 100% indicative of the talent of the team, knowhatimean?

I think the losses to Maryland and Clemson were very indicative of the talent, or lack thereof, at UT.
