I have read the "Is Pig playing" thread and as usual on our site, we go sideways within the thread half-way through and I didn't get a good feel whether or not he made the trip and is going to play? Based on what I read, it sounds like they kept him out of practice yesterday to heal and have a better chance of being ready to go tomorrow. Does anyone have any concrete info on his status?
Maggitt time--- I am really hoping that he is 100% and ready to press tomorrow. Hopefully keeping him out until now is going to pay dividends for the remainder of the stretch. GO VOLS, Keep it close boys! :salute:

Thought I heard Coach Jones say on 104.5 the zone interview that Maggitt would not play at Oregon.

Wahh?! Did he have a setback? Thought he was good to go and he didn't play last week simply as a precaution to have him ready for this week?

Unless something has changed, which I don't think it has, then you would be correct.

Hmmm, Hubbs suggested otherwise:

Defensively, the Vols have gotten a fair amount of work this week from Curt Maggitt and Jacques Smith with the second-team defensive units, with Smith getting the more work of the two. Corey Vereen worked more extensively this week than at any point since his injury, but the freshman end is at least a week away from being in position to potentially contribute. Smith and Maggitt both worked up front with the Vols' line as UT seeks to amp up its edge speed capabilities.

If Maggitt made the trip, he will see action in tomorrow's game.

I heard great things on Vereen throughout the Spring ..

We assuming he will be in instant impact guy on the field ? Once he gets on the field of course.

While I think Verren will b e a good one. it's probably unrealistic to think he will have a big game Saturday. he's young, just coming off an injury and probably not in football shape yet. I hope he is able to play and contribute.

Putting Maggitt on the line? Nice. He had that awesome sack fumble safety at NC State before he starting having injuries, should be good.

Here's to hoping that CBJ is just being all "smoke-screeny and whatnot." I hope to see Pig and Maggit asap but we'll just have to wait and see.

A healthy Maggitt would help a lot in this game, Vereen too. We need some quickness on the edge, badly. And our offense needs some quickness, too.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought he said if we played today (wed or thurs) Maggitt wouldn't play.......

No, that's what he said on Vol Calls Wednesday night. He was more definite on 104.5 yesterday and indicated Maggitt would not play at Oregon.
