Pig Howard Reverses/Speed Sweeps

They're bad plays, but they're just trying to get pig the ball in space.

Not working, but I like the concept.

Tell me I'm not alone with this.

It doesn't always have to gain much, if any, yardage, although you obviously don't want to lose yardage on any play. But I'm sure they run it to make the DC consider Pig as a 2nd or 3rd RB in the backfield on certain formations. When the D sees the offense in a certain formation with Pig in particular spots, they will anticipate Pig on a reverse. It helps open the middle of LOS for Neal/lane, or for Dobbs to keep it and go away from Pig. So they will run different plays off the same set to keep the defense different things to think about, and Pig on the reverse is one of them.

Exactly, thanks for being reasonable.

Also here are the stats from the GA game: 6 attempts, 46 yards, 7.7 ypc, 16 long.

I just wish we could set up wr screens faster personally...

Other teams do it with a lot of success. The oline nor the receivers are holding their blocks long enough or blocking at all. Just like the 10 swing passes or screens they run a game, the receivers aren't blocking on the edge. I see other teams run those same plays very successfully. Plus we don't have deep threat guys and Dobbs doesn't have a great arm to throw it deep so that limits play calling.

Even with faster players and better timing it doesn't work well in the sec. To much speed on defenses to make that a staple play in our offense. It will work from time to time buy not enough for 10 or more plays a game. Hopefully our coaches learn this after next year.

^ this.

The Vols OC is 0 for a hundred now. If he ever catches a team sleeping , he will just be simply tickled to death with his decision and we will see more than ever. No more reverses with Pig or any other player.
