What was the combined ground operations experience in that room? McRaven was the only person in that room who probably understands modern combat; he was also easily one of the most junior officials in that room (one-stars are a dime a dozen inside the beltway).
I would imagine that you have a lot of people sitting around watching what roughly equates to Blair Witch cinematography (worse, actually) and trying to piece together what it is they saw. The debriefing process had most likely barely even started at that point for the team that conducted the raid.
To persons that have never been in combat, one person shooting an AK inside a building while our troops fire bike can certainly look like a "firefight". Hell, even experienced combat troops perk their ears up when they hear celebratory fire coming from outside the FOB as individual manning the TOC work to locate what is happening through the video feed coming from the AEROSTAT.
