Alex Golesh said that he called the plays. From the linked article: “Our relationship was really good because there was no ego,” added Golesh. “There was a complete trust in each other. And when he turned over the playcalling to me, I think for him it was a level of trust that he showed in me. I think I earned that trust.”Heupel calls the plays anyway. OC is his eyes in the box and helps develop the gameplan, but Heupel makes the calls. Always has, always will.

“There’s no time to talk in between plays. So generally I would get, if it was good, like a ‘hell yeah’ or if it was bad, a “what are you doing?’. But the relationship was awesome.”
Quote from Alex Golesh shows there's only one choice to serve as Josh Heupel's new OC at UT.
Well, my wireless satellite headset arrived yesterday and we are prototyping and test driving on Sunday.Word is Heupel will employ a new system for play calling. A selection of four VN'ers will have wireless access to Heup headset. They will take turns phoning in their plays quarter by quarter. Heup will relay the calls to the team. The VN'ers will be at the Orange Bowl and seated directly behind the players' benches to enhance rapid calls so we retain our uptempo style. The selected play callers are under-going DIY online training right now.
