I don't know about any of these from Alabama in particular, but it seems like the last few transfers we've picked up from Bama have turned out to be good players for us.

When do the 2022 portal players have to make their decision? Is it the same as other non portal recruits?

If Bama takes them, chances are they're pretty good. It's just a crowded room on the Bama roster.

They will see some enter soon enough. Only reason they haven’t entered is they want a ring. If they lose the seccg watch them start jumping.
1980!
Not gonna happen. I can feel it.

Or maybe I'm just hoping.
Kirby will do something dumb to screw it up.

Transfer Portal is absolutely killing college football and indicative of what society is teaching young minds about the awful "commitment" word.

I get where you are coming from, but there is another side to this argument. These kids have for a long time been held to a different standard than everybody else in society and even those adults that are supposed to be models for them. Everybody in college football has benefitted from the student athletes but have very little stake in the game. Players are expected to stick it out when hings get tough and honor their commitment when the coaches making insane amounts of money can just walk away. Often the ones most hurt by coaches leaving are the kids. And to be honest, often a coach will recruit a kid and fill his head with ideas about how things will be and then barely speak to that player for two years once they get on campus. This is more common than anybody realizes.

These are kids who are making life-changing decisions. Sometimes they start to feel alone, isolated, homesick, depressed, etc. They are normal kids. Why would we let every other student transfer as they see fit but not let football players? As I see it, it is long overdue. Coaches will start paying more attention to all of their players now; start recruiting their own roster now, And the players will have the same opportunities as their peers do and their coaches do, which is the freedom to decide their own future.

Just like we, as adults in the open job market, can choose to change jobs for a number of reasons, so can the students. That doesn't mean that all of them are unable or unwilling to commit. We have no idea what is going on with some of these kids. Sure, some are selfish and unwilling to put in the work. But I bet the majority are just normal kids that need to move on. Maybe they realize that they are below their current level. Why would you force a kid to spend 4 years on the scout team for Bama when they could be playing in games for Arkansas State. These kids want to play football and they should be able to. Not everybody can start for Bama. That doesn't mean they can't start somewhere.

I actually don't have a problem with transferring...but I think it should be a one time deal. I agree with you when the coaches leave. If they're sold a bag of fools gold, that somewhat reflects on them not doing their due diligence. There is plenty of media that is available to research what is going on inside the programs. I just don't like the "open door" that has been created and the mentality of "oh well, I will keep transferring until it works out." Universities spend a lot of time and money recruiting. It would be nice if the kids would care at least a little for the school they're representing.

Or, it is teaching them to be agile and seek opportunities for betterment, which is a hallmark of a successful society deeply imbued with individual liberty.

I would agree to an extent based on the generalization of what you state, but I don't think it's really what is happening with college football players. I am all for capitalism, liberty, freedom...the whole works, but I think more often than not...the player just isn't willing to put in the work, and finds it takes longer to reach meaningful playing time then originally thought. Maybe they get bored easy, homesick, maybe the classwork expectations were more than promised....
