Ole Miss lost 4 players today.....cutting dead weight or maybe Kiffin on the move?

Who was the running back we had late momentum for that ended up at ND on signing day? Maybe if he were to leave because of Kelly leaving we could look there if Gibbs falls through

Kiffin knows what he’s doing. He can take more from the portal if he loses some to the portal. I believe the number is 5 you can replace via portal and not count towards the 25 limit as long as you lose 5 or more to the portal.

Someone fact check that but pretty sure I read that on here not long ago.

Transfer Portal is absolutely killing college football and indicative of what society is teaching young minds about the awful "commitment" word.
I'm desperately hoping it saves college football by getting more of the better players that have went to 6 schools thinking they would start immediately out to at least 20 other schools.

🙄 Now I have the song stuck in my head...
Desperately hoping her harlequin hovers nearby awaiting a word.
Gasping at glimpses of gentle true spirit.
She runs wishing she could fly.
(Home Free did it better than Crosby, Stills and Nash.)

Yeah a damn shame players can leave and go somewhere else when they have just 5 years to fulfill their athletic dreams.

Weird, transfer portal is a thing but college football games are still being played and scheduled to be played in the future 🧐

If it leads to the top 5 or 6 teams getting even more of the best talent so that the talent gap increases even further, then it definitely could be the death of college football. Curious to see how this year is going to turn out. Gibbs to AL with the other top RBs or to TN? Etc.

It is for sure CHANGING college football recruiting, but we will all have to let things play out to see if it selectively helps the guys already on top. They for sure can use it to plug holes due to early departures, but they are usually already full of 85 higher quality guys So it is possible that those a couple of rungs down can actually use it to get higher quality guys out of HS AND those on the move. The POSSIBLE addition of 7 more players above the 25 any given year could actually help the next layer to get closer to those on top. The big loser will be the schools down the list and trending down. They are likely to lose their better players desiring success with very short lines wanting to transfer in.

UT is probably in a position to gain more than most since we only have about 70 schollies REALLY tied up this past year. But we will have to lose more guys TO the portal that qualify for replacement. so I would not count on all 7. Will be interesting to see how the NCAA deals with the portal for schools being docked initial counters due to sanctions. Schools would simply pivot and run unproductive good students off to close ground through the portal and that is not the intent. Guess they would have to backfill those schools on the slide that need bodies. More moving parts makes my head hurt.

We will need a final analysis next fall to see which schools and categories benefited from the portal. Early results around signing day will not be complete enough to make valid assessments. But I am sure some will try to make it fit some narrative. Roster net change day one of fall camp will be end all.
