Players speak

The 40 second clock runoff was horrid to say the least but throwing his players under the bus? Hell that's what all coaches do when they overthrow a 3rd down ball or they drop a 3rd down pass that would have given us a first down. Or when the #1 kicker out of HS couldn't kick his way out of a wet paper bag. He challenged Bray after the UGA or Miss St. game and look how he has responded. When you play like **** you get called out. When you coach like **** you get called out on your decisions. Players of all sports get thrown under the bus every single day. Offensively the plays have been there to be made. At the most critical times we haven't made them. Defensively, who the hell knows what our problem is. I for one don't pretend to act like I know what the problem is on defense. Dooley has not managed the clock well in his time here that's for sure but this year we have missed a bunch of big plays in the most critical times that MIGHT of gotten us a win.

You still have to put yourself in a position to win instead of coaching not to lose. Our offense was on fire, we LAYED DOWN. Bray was clearly ticked about it. He and dooley hate each other I'm sure

Raging hormones at your age? Please.
If he's older than my pubic hair, I'd be shocked.

If he is, then I, now, fully understand the median IQ of the "full time" posters of this site.

Shame, there used to be a lot of good ones here.

I agree with that first part. I'm not sure about the hate though. I think if Bray hated him he wouldn't have responded the way he has since Dooley called him out. I don't know though.

well the fact that we're even having this conversation is the real problem

Yep he's definately showed his true colors no doubt..

What is your problem dude? One minute you agree with me (double check your "thank god we lost" thread comments) and one minute you don't. You seem to swing which ever way the popular vote at the minute goes. I can't figure out if you trolling or what.

Yeah, cause the average 20 something isn't in the media and social media mega-circus. But the lingo is the same for a lot of them.

I think it's groovy, and rad, and narly. Don't you?
I will go with "spot on"

Sadly...you call me sir...

Can we please change topics? Lol

One of my patients here in Texas just got me an autographed photograph of coach Bill Battle. The picture was actually from the same year that I saw my first live Tennessee game. I was 11 then. Have to say that it made my day. My patient had coach Battle autograph it and he sent me a note along with the autographed personalized to me.

Even though he did not have great success at Tennessee, he and his teams are responsible for me being becoming a VFL!!

That's where your wrong. Dooley didn't create the mess. He tried to fix it and he couldn't. He tried to get these players over the hump and couldn't get it done. He didn't start this. He tried to finish it for them. He didn't. He's fired. We'll move on to another guy that can hopefully get them over the hump. To me it makes no sense to bash the guy and talk bad about him like he's dog **** or something. He tried something and it didn't work. Surely you can understand that. Why talk about him? He was asked to take this job and he took it. He failed. He's not trash. He didn't cheat to try and get it done. We have players here that are good enough to win physically. For some reason he can't get them mentally where they need to be to win in this league.

Some very excellent points here my friend.

Since this is a age thread I'm pushing 59 years old so the record is now complete, LOL.

My belief is simple...Either we get a solid, proven Head Coach that's also a great recruiter that's a rock solid HOMERUN hire that will get the attention of top recruits across the nation or we save the $8 million or more for the buyouts and we keep CDD for 1 more year while we keep looking for the homerun hire.

To fire CDD and not get a homerun hire could set our program back 3 to 5 years and then we're looking for another coach again that could end up setting us back another 3 to 5 years and that's just ignorant.

I HAVE seen our player roster get better in the ONLY 2 recruiting classes that CDD brought in.

The 1st class was laMe kiffScums class that CDD had only 2 WEEKS to try and hold together and to try and add some good players to that class and he DID that by stealing Da'rick Rogers away from Georgia and Da'rick made some good plays his Freshman year while he was still trying to learn our O and in his Soph year he kept us going after we lost Hunter and then Bray for 5 games and he could have been a superstar this season but HE CHOSE to be a moron and break rules and forced CDD to send him packing which took guts by CDD knowing it changes the entire plan for this season.

CDD also got Hunter here and he stole James Stone away from Bama in the laMe class and added a few other players.

The 2 real CDD recruiting classes are now only Freshmen and Sophs and if you look closely there's several of those young kids that will be NFL players after they graduate from Tennessee.

They're just young and inexperienced but will become great players soon for our Vols and we have to thank CDD for getting those good players to come to Tennessee.

WHY do I say either a HOMERUN hire or keep CDD for 1 more year?

Simple...Besides saving $8 Million or more, that we don't have, having another full year to put out feelers and have AD Hart and our big Boosters looking for the real homerun hire I still think CDD will field a good team next year and here's why...

MAYBE if we keep CDD for another year he just might convince Bray, Hunter and Patterson and others that 1 more year with the same O, that has gotten lots better under CDD, and with a much better run game that we'll fix the Defense and those kids can Win lots of games, get to a good Bowl game and their draft stock will go way up and they'll make Millions more $$$ on their 1st NFL contract.

THINK...We has 10 big scoring PLAYS that killed this season...ONLY 10 PLAYS away from WINS over Fla, Ga, MSU, SC and Mizzou and if we hadn't had those 10 really bad PLAYS on Defense we WOULD be the SEC East Champions and ranked in the top 10 right now with zero doubts that we'd also get Wins against Vandy and Ky.

We could get worse for many years if we don't get the solid HOMERUN hire so I'd rather risk being bad, or maybe good with CDD if he fixes our D this offseason like he fixed our run game, so risk 1 bad year to get the homerun hire instead of taking whoever we can get and risk being bad for 3 to 5 more years, wasteing $8 Million or more and 3 or 4 years from now looking for another coach.

I just want a solid homerun hire because I'm too old and sick and I won't be around in 10 years to get to see another SEC Championship game.

I really want another crystal football coming to K town before I die but totally rebuilding an entire football program to get to that level takes many years and we're still rebuilding from firing Fulmer and his last bad recruiting classes.

VFL...GBO!!!

Dang all this talk of age, I think the older fan base is more critical of Dooley sooner, because they have expectations. It is the 22 year olds that are clueless and have wanted to keep giving Dooley a chance.

im 22...and why wouldnt we have given him a chance this season?

I don't know if it's already been addressed, but I don't feel like going through 8 pages. I was really impressed with what Daniel Hood said. That hopefully helps people keep a little perspective when ripping into Dooley.

Bray said, when we didn't have a team meeting Sunday, we knew that coach Dooley would be here for the remainder of the season.

Is it my raging hormones, or does anyone see a problem there?

I don't get it.....raging hormones please explain....fact is as stated but Bray did say we are going to get these last two for him....pretty upfront.....

I am 41 and I can tell you for certain that Hood's comments are not the consensus of the football team. This is directly from a couple of players that I personnaly spoke with early in the week. The statements in the article have been sugarcoated and many of the players feel exactly like the majority of us do. They love the team and UT and that is about the extent of it. Quite frankly, a coach should be professional and a motivator to bring out the best in the boys by hard work and perseverence to make them be the best they can be. Just ask yourself if you can honestly say that about Dooley? The last couple months have proven to me that we have been sold a false bill of goods.

Are y'all on this age thing cause you're making fun of me for being old???

Old people love football too! Don't judge!
