Really? The students paying their own tuition pick up the bill for everything the Football players get. They (the players) also get free merch, free room and board, free food... Most of those dudes playing on the field will never give a dime to the university. Most won't be working jobs that pay enough to do otherwise once their college career is over. Also, fans buy the tickets. Fans buy the merchandise. If it wasn't for the fans the program wouldn't exist. The number of fans who are graduates and donors of real substance give infinitely more than almost any football player graduate. Half the donors are alumni and I can easily say the majority of the big donors aren't football players. These players give more to their university than most fans. The number of fans who are graduates and donors of any real substance is very small.
If they're being called the N word in stadiums, then politics are already in sports for them.
Regardless, it's the offseason. What other place and time would you like them to save sharing their experiences about being harassed or belittled for? When is it appropriate?
I’d wager they’re calling each other the N word far more than anyone else does if at all.
Lol. Seriously?
That makes ZERO sense. We’re obviously discussing a specific subgroup of our population, which you denigrated with stereotypes.
Yes seriously. Why can’t it just be “American”? Touting African American culture for the most part isn’t exactly a good retort if you’re being realistic. From looting and rioting to unprecedented violence in almost every major city and then some. From fatherless homes, millions of abortions, violent crimes, drugs, and unprovoked lynch mob attacks. Of course this doesn’t include all black people but these are are far greater issues in the “African American” community than the false narratives of systematic racism, police brutality, etc.
I can honestly say no one in my inner circle of close friends has ever used that word in my presence. Pretty sure they don’t use it at all anyway. Can’t even tell you the last time I’ve even heard it from an acquaintance. Don’t like the word, never have and it was not permitted in my house growing up. I think it’s also because my generation grew up having black friends in school and we didn’t think anything of it.
We were starting school on the tail end of the civil rights movement in the early/mid 70’s and desegregation/bussing was in full effect so we essentially grew up thinking this was all very normal. I can’t even say we heard the black guys I went to school with use that word toward each other unless maybe they were arguing about something. But it didn’t seem like they just tossed it around at each other like you hear today.

You know those people that you claimed has moved on were paid reparations by the US government. Those two groups of individuals are not brutalized by white Americans as much as black people are. You are racists, you're just to much of a coward to say so. Asian Americans are discriminated against.Check the Jews and Japanese and see how quickly they moved on. It might do you some good.

Right......I grew up in E Tennessee in the early 80’s. My cousin was a couple years older than me and also happened to be black. We played and hung out with kids of all races and backgrounds and for the most part there weren’t any issues. I do remember someone calling him the N word and verbally assaulting him on one occasion. My aunt handled the situation. Other than that one time I can’t recall another incident. I have BY FAR witnessed racist acts by the other side. As for the N word in general, I don’t hear it much but if I do it’s FAR more often from the other side.
