Playoff Format Fix

Then we need to go to uniform scheduling for all P4 teams. Have everyone play 9 game conference schedules, 1 P4 OOC game and then whatever else they want. If you eliminate CCG you potentially get some really mediocre teams in the CFP. If UNC had been semi decent this season they could’ve won the ACC without playing a ranked opponent all season and had a breeze into the CFP. At least the CCG forces some teams to have play someone if the schedule they play doesn’t work out to be good.

I don't disagree other than the fact that you can't have balanced schedules when Big 10 teams like Penn State are playing joke schedules in a horribly top-weighted conference where more than half the league is awful, while SEC teams play a meat grinder schedule where a 10-2 record would be super rare with 9 conference games. We would have four Big 10 teams in the top 5-6 every season.

I agree that the B1G is top heavy, and I don’t think there’s any perfect solution, but I do think everyone playing the same # of conference games would be a start. One thing that I would definitely like to see would be a SEC/B1G challenge, just like everyone does in basketball. Hey maybe even make it so that the ACC / Big 12 has their own version. I would play it over 2 weekends, have each conference get 1 of their marquee teams (like Ohio State, Michigan, UGA, Texas, Us…etc) during their primetime spot on a separate weekend. Have Texas vs Ohio State for their stupid Big Noon kickoff 1 weekend as the main game, have Oregon come to Neyland or Athens for an 8pm kickoff on ABC. Then matchup everyone else accordingly. I’m sure people will pushback saying you can’t schedule before the season, but I think that was proven false during the Covid season when BYU could get fly into Myrtle on 3 days notice . I think there’s a way where that could happen.
