Please No Fisher, No Golden, No Franklin...

Really just because you lose a couple games doesn't mean that the coach sucks.

I agree with the other two, but tell me why you wouldn't want Franklin? He's done a remarkable job at Vandy and we would be able to get a ton of his recruits to switch over here. Don't tell me "oh, I don't like his personality". He's a damn good coach and would love for him to be here if we can't get a big name. Much rather him over a Golden, Butch Davis or Jones, Fisher, Strong.

Explain why you wouldn't want the guy? He's turned a two win program into possibly 9 wins his second year. Someone is going to pick him up. Would like for it to be us. He's done more than Strong or any of the other unproved HC's.

Fisher is the only one of the 3 names mentioned here I think has a shot. I really think Strong and Fedora will have to say no to get to Fisher but could be wrong. Have been before haha.

What's your hangup with Fisher? If you don't mind me asking.
Serious? FSU was ranked #2 two years in a row and underperformed both years big time. He is like Fulmer if I would have to compare him to anyone. He can recruit good, but they underperform.

Not much of a pedigree yet. He was named HC in 2010. That's my only reservation.

I can understand he only has 3 years as HC. I like that he can recruit VA, FL, GA, and AL as shown in his recruiting classes. TN needs talent and I think he can help us get it.

I'd be OK with any of these and I ranked them in order:

1) Fisher
2) Tressel
3) Davis

I'm not interested in Patterson because I know he is not leaving TX.

I'm not interested in Petersen because I've seen how that played out in Dan Hawkins in a weaker Pac 12 Conf.

Fedora and Strong are lower on my list.

Finally, I would be fine if we keep Chaney, Graham, Pittman as part of the new coaches staff.

My apprehensions with Fisher are that he's never had to rebuild a team in the way he will at UT and that I think he has already peaked as a head coach. I just don't see him improving on what he's already done in a less than tough situation at FSU.

On the other hand, coaches like Fedora and Strong have been in tough rebuilding situations and persevered through it. And I believe that neither of those guys has hit their peak as a head coach yet.

That being said, all of these guys are winners and would be a vast improvement over what we've seen the past three years IMO.

Yea I'm serious, he's my 2nd choice. He's beaten the Gators 2wice, good recruiter, good defense. He's miles ahead of Strong, although I think Petrino is the best hire. I like Jimbo more than most we have heard.

Not saying it would be a bad hire because anything over Dooley seems like a big step up, but why would he even consider leaving? It would be a lateral move and if he flirts with us or another team then they would just give him a raise.

Why would Jimbo leave? It's been reported he was at odds with the AD there, who knows. I want Petrino, but I think Jimbo would be a very good hire.
I got:
Petrino
Fisher
Davis
Roman

I don't want anything to do with Petrino and I know Hart won't even think about getting him from his press conference. It was also reported that Gruden had been offered a contract and such so don't believe anything til it actually happens.

I will promise you, with a confident degree of certainty, that Petrino would win 8-9 next year 9-10 year two 10+ as long as he stayed. It is our mistake if we go below Petrino, and its a big mistake. He wins, he wins with less, he wins in the SEC. It seems like a no brainer to me, but everyone is hung up on morals and not winning. I understand he has had problems but we have a Tressel and Butch board too.

I am certain Petrino would win more games than, say, Strong, a lot quicker.

Why all the hate towards Franklin? I understand he acts cocky at times but I thought most on here like folks with swag.. I also, realize he spanked our ass this year but what was he supposed to do, let up so we wouldn't like him less.. Frankly if I coached a team that had been disrespected by another fan base SO much, for SO many years, if I could I would run the score up as much as possible...

Admit it or not, the man has got skill to do at Vandy what most didn't think could be done.. By the looks of it he will keep doing if he stays there.. He appears to be the closest thing to a sure fire up-n-comer there is...

I don't know, I'm just trying to look at this without the customary orange tinted glasses on..

edit: This is not an endorsement to hire him...

Patterson, Petrino, Strong...somebody that can recruit.
Yeah I know. Strong carries the same uncertainties than the other ones mentioned.

Franklin has done more to prove himself at vandy than strong at louisville. He also has a better recruiting class at vandy.
