Dude is very real and and does bring a very real squirrel to each game, I’ve run into him a couple of times at Vol Village before games. It’s super tame, and just perches on his shoulder like a parrot dressed in UT gear. Kids love it.

I'm amazed that squirrel doesn't panic and go berserk among 100,000 screaming fans.

How about an UT parrot? My wife has a Quaker parrot that will perch on her shoulder and not be fazed by anything. If a squirrel can get into Neyland, a parrot would have no problem!
