it's no different. either way, you don't earn it. it's given to them because of rain, pole winner wrecks in practice, or has his time disallowed.
for example, if JPM wrecked and could not use the car, he would be forced to start in the back with a 2nd car. Johnson would start from the pole.
this is no different.
To all those who had #48-Congrats! You try to run soemthing past NASCAR officials and they'll catch you just about every time. Shame on #42 (Montoya)!
The 42 car's time was actually disallowed, and starts at the back by virtue of car owner points.
The qualifying lap turned by the 42 car basically doesn't exist any more, so I see no other choice than to consider J. Johnson the pole sitter. If TennFan doesn't see it differently, then 20 pts. will be awarded to those who picked the 48 car.
I fixed your statement. Now it makes sense.
really, it's up to whatever broyles decides. it's not like the points are going to affect me since i'm not going to win anyway.

i think the best way to decide it is this:
if NASCAR gave JJ the bonus points for the pole, then it should also be awarded to those who picked him. but if he was not awarded the bonus points, then those who picked him shouldn't be given the points either. i think this is the fairest way.
