Police Get Help With Confronting Veterans

Technically, another cop posting in this thread has added more ignorance and stupidity.

Stupidity, maybe. That's a matter of opinion. Feel free to have that opinion. But certainly not ignorance. I am definitely not ignorant about the matter being discussed.

If you were a cop would you write your brother a ticket?

I would like to think I would. If not, then I shouldn't be a copy. The police have what I consider a sacred duty to apply the law as equally as is just. Justice does not allow for playing favorites.

However, it is possible that I would fail to live up to that standard. We are all human and few of us manage to be what we should all the time.

I have personally met many cops. Most of them were great people - some were POS. In my experience though, you treat them respectfully, like anyone else, they will return the favor.

Ok, so back to the OP...

It seems to me that the untrained but well armed organized criminals (gangs, mafiosa, etc) would be more of a threat to the officer and by-standers than the veteran. On the one hand you have an aspect of unpredictability coupled with a lack of training that results in a lot of bullets flying in all sorts of directions. With the veteran, however, you know what to expect--meets force with force, but should be disciplined enough to focus on the actual threat and not just anyone in the area. I would go back and watch the first Rambo and heed the Colonel's advice--leave a way out and let him escape, then pick him up when he's calmed down.

You should be more cautious when the person you're going after has mulitiple combat tours. It all depends on the reason the cops are going after him, though. Don't be a deek and point a gun at the dude just because he's a vet, if it's not necessary.

"this isn't the first time you've mistaken your life for John Rambo's life"

General rule for every one
