Bob LaMonte said about Hart:

“I’d never met him or talked to him. (Today) was the only time I talked to anyone from Tennessee.”

Forget whether this is a lie. Do you think Dave Hart should explain why he didn't contact Lamonte earlier than today with regards to interest in Jon Gruden as our Head Coach?

Too late now... He has already screwed the pooch.

According to Hargis we have only Hart to blame for this deal falling through. And according to multiple writers (Hargis, Travis, Low), Gruden was never #1 on Hart's list.

Hart simply doesn't get "it".

I think Dave Hart needs to explain several things, most importantly, what he's been doing for the past two weeks, because it doesn't look like he's been doing anything at all.

I would also like him to further explain his comment at the previous press conference that his mind wasn't made up about whether Dooley would return or not at 6-6. Does Hart really think that 3 years without a winning record is acceptable here? If so, should Hart still be our AD?

I feel like he should address why he said he was going to get the best guy possible and that money would not be a factor, and then less than two weeks later reports come out that he didn't even contact the best available coach this year until today. I for one am getting sick of UT going dumpster diving for coaches.

We have no clue if Hart is actually working an angle here other than the obvious one. We need to tap the brakes and wait until the end of December before we start lighting torches.

If this ends up being true and Hart totally botches this whole process, God have mercy on his soul.

Once this process is complete and we see our new head coach, then he may or may not owe an explanation. Depends on the quality of the hire. Sad to think the future of UT football is dependent on one unproven college coach. I, and many other reasonable vol fans, don't think so. Give this guy a shot. Just think it could be worse...could be waiting on Hamilton to deliver the bad news.

If Hart has screwed us out of getting any kind of decent coaching staff with butt dragging tactics, they better sneak that mofo out in the middle of the night.

If we don't have a coach by the end of Dec, we are in big, BIG trouble.

Hubbs has now also said that Gruden was never #1 on Hart's list. MY GOD.

If True, then that leads me to believe Gruden was not #1 on the boosters lists either.

Hart is just a puppet right? That is what everyone said. Everyone swore this was not Hart's decison and now that Gruden is a no go, it's all on Hart. :eek:lol:

It doesn't matter who it ends up being anymore. Dave Hart clearly has no pulse on the fan base and no regard for making Tennessee competitive for SEC titles.

I just can't believe that is the case. We are going off alot of speculation of what happened.

I wait until the true facts come out before I lynch Hart. Sad part, the boosters will probably beat me if he really let his ego get in the way.

Maybe it was the boosters that stopped the deal? Noone knows for sure.

A lot of you people have no concept of reality.

Think about this, the last time you went shopping for a car, how many of you went straight to the Ferrari dealership, walked in, and made an offer? Not many, I presume. Why?

Think of Gruden as the Ferrari that you couldn't afford, isn't practical, and you can't afford the insurance and maintenance on. But it would be cool to have. Never mind you're having to spend all your savings and rent/mortage on this car. But hey, all your drunk buddies like to come over and look at it.

Most of you would go with something more practical that fit your lifestyle and budget.

The $18million that was re-allocated has to cover buyouts as well as new staff. Not just for a new head coach.

iirc bama's financial situation was similar prior to the saban hire... if you build it, they (donors) will come
