This mask thing is stupid.

Just got back from highlands nc on a mini vacation with my family and my best friends family.

Mandatory mask to buy ice cream in the ice cream store but not mandatory while sitting outside with 50 other people at the tables.

Mandatory mask at the shopping but not mandatory mask while sitting inside and eating.

So I am gonna catch it while my wife is buying a purse but not catch it will I am having a glass of wine and eating a steak.

The rules are all over the place and honestly not logical.

Yes and no. If it’s required, I wear a mask. If it’s optional or not required, I don’t.
That’s pretty much where I am. Certain places it seems to make sense and certain places, I don’t get it.

I choose to wear a mask because it seems common sense to me that they will lessen the amount of respiratory droplets that travel beyond that mask and lessen the distance they travel. If it only helps a small percentage it seems worth it to me. If it doesn't help at all then what have I lost? Wearing a mask in Kroger for 30 minutes or in Dollar General for 10 minutes is zero inconvenience for me.

Covid-19: Should you be jogging or running with a mask on? Find out here

In general, any cardiovascular activity increases one’s breathing which results in the person panting and then even breathing from the mouth. With the mask covering one’s mouth, the flow of air through the nose is constricted and even the breathing from the mouth is difficult, which might result in trouble for some.

Dr Ravi Shekhar Jha, senior consultant and head of the department, pulmonology, Fortis Escorts Faridabad explained how it happens. “A tight fitting mask like N95 adds inspiratory resistance which increases the work of breathing. A mask which is not valved, changes the blood gas equation, and it leads to a special phenomena called PEEP (Positive End-Expiratory Pressure). This PEEP may lead to pneumothorax (punctured lungs), especially when there is too much strain on lungs, like when we are running, or doing strenuous exercise,” he said.

Idk, man...if your complaint is that people aren't wearing masks while they're eating, that seems pretty logical to me

It's all logical if you think about it for a minute. It spreads easily indoors so wearing a mask while you buy the ice cream indoors makes sense. When you leave you don't HAVE to sit outside at the crowded tables with 50 other people, why would you voluntarily make that decision? If 50 other people are choosing to make a poor decision why would you join them? Go around the corner, pop a squat and eat your ice cream safely.

You can absolutely catch it while sitting, drinking your wine and eating your steak inside a public restaurant, again that's a choice you're given. You can alternatively choose to eat at restaurants with only outdoor seating or take your food to go. The latter 2 choices greatly decrease your chance of catching/spreading the virus.
