Pittman was here for one year in 2012, a career offensive line coach. His impact on the Vols is small.Def thought 5-1 with a heartbreaking loss to Florida. OU hasn't been the same since Venables took over and I thought Pittman would've been fired by week 6 this season. Good for him, our OL was incredible when he was here
I thought we would be 6-0.Jump in your time capsule to a several weeks, or few months ago.
Be honest now, be perfectly honest. The Vols had lots of question marks going into the season. The DL was supposed to be a stronghold and they have been, so far. No one knew about the secondary and linebackers. We knew they had more depth at LB and secondary, but no one knew how they'd perform.
OL was projected to be a strength, but they have underperformed big time with the penalties (many questionable) and plenty of whiffs to go around.
Nico, coming into his Freshman (eligibility) season, with just the bowl game start under his belt. Had a great game against Iowa, especially with his legs, but didn't light the world on fire through the air. So, outside of the hype that surrounds him, he is still a wait and see, if we're being honest.
Did you all think UT would be sitting at 5-1 headed into the Bama game? After a neutral site game with what was advertised as maybe the best the ACC had to offer, on the road at Oklahoma, and Arkansas, then UF, with a Freshman QB and plenty of other question marks?
Well, now don't be a silly head. You didn't read the initial post. It says go back weeks or months. Most national folk (the public at large) had the Vols going 8-4 or 9-3. The poll is about jumping in your time capsule to well within preseason predictions. Let's not be silly people here just trying to be smart mouths. ThanksNo. I expected us to be 6-0. Just like the public at large did as we were favored in all six games.

Nope. I'll admit to being completely wrong. I thought we'd have losses to both OU and UF at this point in the season. I also had bama and uga as losses for an 8-4 season. That was before seeing our offense against legit SEC competition as well as seeing what UK and Vandy were like. Still think 8-4 is about right, but I can also see a path to 6 or 7 wins, too. Gonna depend on how much growth we get from the offense and those injuries. Get the wrong injury or two and this season can turn sour in a big hurry.
