Yes, 5-1 but loss to Oklahoma or Florida, not Arkansas.
For season I think 8-4 or 9-3 but could be worse. Tough games ahead and competition has stiffened.

Figured we could navigate first 6 games with our true tests still being UGA and Bama. W our unlikely loss to Ark, we gotta beat the dawgs or tide PLUS, not overlook and more sleeping dogs in waiting.

Def thought 5-1 with a heartbreaking loss to Florida. OU hasn't been the same since Venables took over and I thought Pittman would've been fired by week 6 this season. Good for him, our OL was incredible when he was here
Pittman was here for one year in 2012, a career offensive line coach. His impact on the Vols is small.

I thought they'd split the two road games. Just thought the loss would come at OU instead of Arkansas.

In the AP poll, UT moved from 8 to 11 after beating UF by 6 points, but Bama remained at #7 after crushing THAT POWERHOUSE SC by 2 points at home. đŸ€Ș And there is no bias?

i know. but the ol was def good that year. tyler bray (a pocket passer) was able to stay off his butt and throw for over 3,600 yards that season!

Yeah 5-1 sounda bout right at this point. Probable losses to Bama, UGA. possibly, but hopefully not, could drop one of UK or Vandy (they are legit this year). Looks like a 8-4 or 9-3 football team. Vegas O/U before the season was 8.5. They nailed it like they always do.

Jump in your time capsule to a several weeks, or few months ago.

Be honest now, be perfectly honest. The Vols had lots of question marks going into the season. The DL was supposed to be a stronghold and they have been, so far. No one knew about the secondary and linebackers. We knew they had more depth at LB and secondary, but no one knew how they'd perform.

OL was projected to be a strength, but they have underperformed big time with the penalties (many questionable) and plenty of whiffs to go around.

Nico, coming into his Freshman (eligibility) season, with just the bowl game start under his belt. Had a great game against Iowa, especially with his legs, but didn't light the world on fire through the air. So, outside of the hype that surrounds him, he is still a wait and see, if we're being honest.

Did you all think UT would be sitting at 5-1 headed into the Bama game? After a neutral site game with what was advertised as maybe the best the ACC had to offer, on the road at Oklahoma, and Arkansas, then UF, with a Freshman QB and plenty of other question marks?
I thought we would be 6-0.

No. I expected us to be 6-0. Just like the public at large did as we were favored in all six games.

I “predicted” 6-0 but my BVS said 5-1 with likely loss to either OU or Florida. Never pencilled in Ark as a loss but that’s “why you play the games”.

As in all things about life, the journey is just as important (if not more) than the destination. I hate “revisionist history” after the fact. Usually in the form of “if you told me before the year we would be X-X would you take it”? Of course blindly stated we would. But when you have one loss and only need to beat SC to make the playoff, 11-2 becomes a HUGE disappointment. Expectations change as the season plays out.

5-1 is awesome! But the ride has been a bit more bumpy than I would like. And based on how we got here, my 10-2 has been adjusted down to 9-3/8-4.

5-1 with a loss to Oklahoma was my prediction and 10-2 for the season. We are going to find a way to beat Bama more than likely and lose to Georgia on the road. Vandy and Kentucky are not looking like cakewalks but I think we find a way to win both.

Well, now don't be a silly head. You didn't read the initial post. It says go back weeks or months. Most national folk (the public at large) had the Vols going 8-4 or 9-3. The poll is about jumping in your time capsule to well within preseason predictions. Let's not be silly people here just trying to be smart mouths. Thanks

Yes I predicted that we would lose to OU on the road and then lose to UGA on the road and win ever one of our home games (my best-case scenario).

I did think our likely outcome was 3 losses, OU, Bama and UGA.

Either way I had us 5-1 going into the Bama game.

I did not predict the Arky loss but I did predict it was going to be a trap game and I was right about that one 😂

I figured we would be 4-2 or 6-0. Either we would be on or we'd take an L to Oklahoma and NC State if were weren't Arkansas wasn't on the list of possible L's. Honestly if we get out of this season with 2-3 L's its a win both preseason and at this point knowing what we know. We are kind of in a weird situation because we lose a LOT. We return most of our linebackers, we have decent depth at Leo. But the 2 deep at Dline is pretty much all gone after this year. We lose 3 starters on Oline and quite a few receivers. We have a lot of young talent though so maybe plus portal we are fine.

I thought they would lose one of the road games, OK or Ark, and be 5-1 at this juncture.

Nope. I'll admit to being completely wrong. I thought we'd have losses to both OU and UF at this point in the season. I also had bama and uga as losses for an 8-4 season. That was before seeing our offense against legit SEC competition as well as seeing what UK and Vandy were like. Still think 8-4 is about right, but I can also see a path to 6 or 7 wins, too. Gonna depend on how much growth we get from the offense and those injuries. Get the wrong injury or two and this season can turn sour in a big hurry.

I thought 6-0 because of the strength of our offensive line. I guess that was a myth. If they improve somehow, I really think we can win out
