No doubt the loss of Prothro has crippled, no pun intended, Alabama's offense.

If the Vols go 6-5 they will get a Bowl invite. Why? They have a winning season, are a reputable team with history, and have a loyal fan base that travels. The last point is a big key. If a team has the fan base, fans that spend money, they will get an invite somewhere.

I think any bowl bid is good. It may not be a top bowl, but it beats sitting home watching the rest of the SEC play.

You could always say head-to-head, who is better... It gets a little messy. But if Miami and Bama played, I would almost certainly put my money on Miami. At least the Canes can score points

Now I know why you hate Bama...it's all that money you lost in 1993! :D

But next year, watch out. They are going to be a prominent figure in on the BCS standings for quite a while now. :shades:

Hmmm - let's see - you lose your QB and most of the defense. A good number of the players you are losing are 3 or 4 year starters.

I think you should watch out next year. :ninja: :biggrin2:

So? I think they're right. Who has Alabama beat so far......us? Whoop-dee-do. [/quote

ARE YOU KIDDING??
With the VOLS wondering WHETHER they can beat Vandy?. Even if they win out (against Memphis, Kentucky and Vandy no less), the very best they can do is 6-5. And actually, when you look at Vandy's performance against FL, even that is not certain. The VOLS could very well end the season 5-6. But even if they do beat Vandy - what kind of bowl invitation can you expect with a team that started as a preseason (#3) pick to win the SEC, but instead has wilted down to 3-5 and barely manages to climb up to 6-5 - Music City Bowl?
Now consider this. Bowl games are played by teams that have been INVITED to play in that bowl. In short, just achieving a certain W-L record does not automatically GRANT you a spot in any particular bowl game. So while the Vols' W-L record, if taken by itself with no other criteria considered, may qualify them for a bowl game, their performance over the past several weeks speaks volumes as to their abilities, or lack thereof, as a cohesive and effective football team. IMO, don't expect a bowl invitation of any kind.

So now when you look at UT's PRESENT 3-5 and BEST POSSIBLE record of 6-5, what gives you the right to talk about Alabama's PERFECT record?
People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

Can you say U N B E A T E N? 9-0 Roll Tide :shades:

How about a quick history lesson for the uninformed.
B4 you talk some trash why don't you look at the recent series record?

2000, the year after our last Sec title. I hate seeing being ranked like that preseason.
