What seems to be lost on some is that the portal is a 2 way street. We can have some of our kids head elsewhere, too. Are we willing to part with some of our current WR's and committed kids should we go after guys like Brown and Concepcion? Gonna say it again....we need one helluva OL haul way more than another WR. I'd also like a couple more studly DL, too.
I think it's inevitable that some of our players will be leaving this year. Unlike the past few years when we were thin and there were opportunities, we are starting to see a logjam of talent and not much PT to go around. I don't really like to speculate, but I wouldn't be shocked to see Leacock hit the portal as he's basically lost deep within the depth chart. Webb has been passed up multiple times (and he's a kid with value who has been great off the bench). I hope Seldon stays because I think he has as much raw talent as anyone on the roster, but injuries have really hindered his ability to see the field. I don't see Keith hanging around if he wants a clear path to playing time. All these guys have starting potential somewhere and I hope we can hang on to them, but I don't see how we hold on to all of them.

IMO IOL and S are the biggest needs, for different reasons.

IOL - If Karic's appeal is denied (would be ludicrous, but it's the NCAA) then we're replacing two OG starters along with Cooper at C. At C I think they like Satterwhite but I wouldn't be surprised if they looked into some guys with real experience. We have some OG bodies but basically nobody with experience. Sham has played some in non-mop up duty but not a lot, and Bussell/Anderson/Lang/etc have played some but only in mop-up. Either the staff is willing to roll with them and plan on enough development to get good play there or they'll go to the portal for more experience and/or talent. I'm hoping for the latter, at least for one starting OG spot. OL is a developmental position and there's no harm in letting these young guys continue to develop while we field the best OL possible in front of Nico in 2025.

S - we've got bodies and experience. 2/9/14 are solid and have played a lot. I've seen people say that 35 might be able to come back. I'm high on 9 in particular to continue to get better. 15 and 12 are still young and 15 in particular has promise. We're signing Walton and likely Merritt, but neither of them project as instant contributors. IMO though, in order for this defense to take another step and become truly elite, we need S play at another level. So if there's an elite S that hits the portal - and if I'm UT I'm tampering with someone if necessary - this is where I'd spend big money.

Wish we’d just figure out how to keep shady in this class. I think he has Caleb downs level talent, all the tools speed/hard hitting/ball skills/etc.

Wonder how Cole Harrison has been developing as the potential TE3 next season. Braame could get into the mix as well given his talent.
Haven't heard anything about him this year, his Fr season...so, according to VN he must suck/he's not being developed (take your pick), therefore he must be replaced.

My portal list
1-RB (Unless Sampson comes back)
2-WRs (I’m assuming Webb, Nimrod, Leacock could all leave)
2- Oline (RT and A Gaurd)
2- interior Dline
1- Safety

Obviously this will change based on who enters on our end but that is my way to early list

Hayward decommitted over the weekend, word is they are trying to flip an Auburn recruit. So Safety may be a position of need from the portal. I think interior linemen both offense and defense will be looked at. They have had great success at DT in the portal. They have also taken a high value WR every year in the portal. Definitely need a slot guy. Concepcion would be worth looking at.

Sampson has taken a beating with all the carries this year, can't believe CJH isn't telling him to go play on Sundays. I can see at least 2 out the 3 WRs, if not all 3 leaving. I think they believe in LJ3 at RT, but can never have to many o-linemen. I'm sure they already have their eye on the d-linemen they want. Just show them Norman-Lotts and Moi's tapes that should bring in DTs. Hopefully Josephs stays for 1 more year, but he has been balling and may head to NFL.

I feel like WR will be a luxury in the portal not a need.
I know most have been down on Brazzel (myself included) but i've also seen what a second year in the system can do.

Hyatt's breakout year - 2nd year
Thornton this year - 2nd year ( could have had a Hyatt type season if not for hampering injuries IMO)

Sq White / Braylon Staley - Slot
MM / Nimrod - Outside
Brazzell / Nate Spillman - Outside

still leaving Webb / Leacock to bring back or transfer

Agree on WR being a lesser need.

CBreezie had what might have been a breakout game on Saturday. Also wouldn't discount Travis Smith or Jackson making contributions as freshmen, they're that talented and had MM not been banged up he would've been doing the same throughout the season IMO.

Nimrod and Spillman being your back ups is why they need to add a WR. Nimrod struggled to catch the ball all year and Spillman didn’t play.

I’d assume one of the incoming freshmen find a way into the mix, but they should add another WR.
