Wingo was never and I mean never going anywhere but Texas. Some of their incentives are dumb AF to me to give a 17-18yo kid; just asking for trouble. Petty got a good NIL package but the key was he was promised a spot at OT at least a chance to play there; no other school was willing to do that. The other guy isn’t even close to the kind of player either of those guys are imo but I’m not a coach; great athleticism and potential but not a guy you throw a ton of money at imho. You responded about something I never said. I said there are examples where we fell out or dropped out due to being either unwilling or unable to compete with others on NIL. Wingo and Petty are examples on high end guys. I do not care despite an overall pedestrian DB class, but FL is the likely choice on Konnanoby (spelling?) due to our unwillingness to pay what they are.
Agree Konnanoby was an so so prospect as I said. But we had a poor class and we did want him and lost him due to NIL by every account. The idea Wingo was ”never going anywhere but TX” is completely counter to those that covered the recruitment. To make us feel better the TN sites all assumed we couldn’t compete with MO due to timing of NIL. Those are facts. We were not competitive on Petty either. The argument in the thread wasn’t even we should have done those things. The argue was that we have lost recruits or stopped recruiting due to NIL.Wingo was never and I mean never going anywhere but Texas. It's pretty well documented that Petty wanted to be an OT and we viewed him as a G (like most big programs did, including UGA). GT was one of the few top tier schools that:Agree Konnanoby was an so so prospect as I said. But we had a poor class and we did want him and lost him due to NIL by every account.
