You may be right, but I could see us getting 2, or atleast targeting 2. We have issues if we're relying on Stayley as our #3..unless he gets his drop issues fixed. We definitely offer playing time . As of now, we don't have a deep threat than can be the go to WR and that can take the top off a Defense. Hopefully Mathews turns into that, but not sure. We have a QB friendly offense that puts WR's in good positions. I think Aguilar will be better than some in here think.

Well, the portal is still open so I'm not convinced we don't see more players from UT go nuts and hit the portal.

Another poster mentioned Merks agent has his hand out. Maybe the kid isn't stupid enough to take the chance in the portal, but if I'm Heupel, I certainly don't dismiss the idea that he does it.

Yeah, I heard that last week. He just added Beck's agent, after getting a raise last week He was only making 40k and just got a 100-200k raise. Not sure how much he's wanting, hopefully that doesn't become an issue

You guys have no faith in our young WR's. You sure are going to be surprised, they will ball out this year.

He better be careful, he may end up without a P4 school to play for. He has no film, so let's hope he don't overplay his hand.

Dude, I hope so. But it's hard to have faith when it hasn't been shown yet. Nor is our WR Coach worth a damn. I hope Mathews has a Hyatt type year and Smith has a helluva FR year. But until we actually see it, it's hard to expect much. It's like trust, it has to be earned.

People are sleeping on Stayley. If he can get his hands shored up, he can have a monster year. I like our receivers. We just need more depth.

If he was given a bump to more than double his current deal and agreed to it, he doesn't need to keep coming back for more bites of the apple. He's proven nothing. He might not even start next year. If I'm Heupel, I roll with the kid from UCLA and grab a backup from the portal. Let Merk and his agent walk. These players need to be sent a message that we will pay a fair price, but for a raise you gotta show something on the field. Merk hasn't shown a darned thing so far. Nobody is irreplaceable.

I believe this one is more agent-driven. JMO. The problem with some of these agents is they push for $ because it fattens their pockets… it doesn’t necessarily mean the kid is pressing the issue for more $.

getting tired of hearing kids keep asking for more when they haven't proven squat on the field... let them walk. I still think it's crazy we told Nico and fam to hit the bricks when they wanted more and it wasn't justified, and then here comes Merc (who just saw this go down), who hasn't shown/done jack-squat, and has his hand out... SMFH
