OK.

I google "Tennessee Self imposed scholarship reductions that expire after Spring semester".

From 02/22/22 Knoxville Sentinel article:

Is Tennessee still self-imposing scholarship cuts?

UT played last season with as few as 71 scholarship players, as players entered the transfer portal throughout the fall...

Are the Vols also cutting scholarships from the 2022 roster as an extension of that self-imposed penalty? UT Chancellor Donde Plowman, athletics director Danny White and Heupel declined to answer, citing the open NCAA investigation as the reason for their silence...

In the transfer portal, UT picked up only one scholarship player while the other 13 SEC teams have added an average of almost six players apiece.

The Vols could add a few more transfers in the spring when traffic in the portal is expected to spike again. But that may depend on whether more UT players enter the portal after spring practice to free up scholarships.

From 02/16/22 A to Z Sports article:

The speculation, however, is that Tennessee will be able to add more players via scholarship after the spring semester (for now it appears that UT is trying to get around the reductions by utilizing preferred walk-on spots).

So, as I originally posted, we got a "self imposed cap" right now, so we're off the market for transfers. Us potentially picking up players in the Spring appears to be pure speculation. Further, such transfers appear dependent upon *current* players leaving Tennessee via the portal, which represents a net sum zero equation.

Just like usual you look like a fool. AP and other insiders have alluded that we will be busier in late Spring and summer in the portal. But hey you keep up your little woe is me routine. It suits you.

Facts v. Speculation.

Break out your thesaurus, Junior.

OJ killed his wife…

@MontyPython: Link?

Well it’s just common knowledge…

@MontyPython: **Posts first google link of acquittal. “Says here that OJ definitely didn’t do it so I’m just gona ignore the rest of the facts and believe OJ didn’t do it”

Oh, please. Read the articles I quoted - both recent. They both say it's "speculation" as to whether or not we're gonna have room. On the same note, even if we do get room, it's possibly a one current player goes out the portal to pick up another in.

One last thing. I'm a diehard Vol and alum. Traveled 745 miles to see us play against Purdue. I *want* us to be able to pick up players, but we have to have realistic expectations given the NCAA sanction situation.

Why would we be recruiting transfers/accepting commits all of a sudden if we have no spots for them?

Why would we be recruiting transfers/accepting commits all of a sudden if we have no spots for them?

Lots of reasons. One could be trying to get them to become PWOs. Another is we don't give them a scholarship but they get a NIL deal instead. Another is we tell them, hold on we may have a spot opening on X date.

The landscape of recruiting has been completely upended over the last couple years. Add in our NCAA issues, and who knows where we really stand.

After being asked twice, you still haven't acknowledged the quote and link where Heupel said himself that they will be more active in the portal come spring. As a matter of fact, you've ignored it and acted like it was never posted. If you're such a super-fan who's not trolling or creating a negative agenda for the sake of a negative agenda, one would think you'd take the loss and ease up.

Did you see the link that referenced CJH saying that we'll be more active in the portal come Spring?

As of early February, it seems to have been "speculation" to some:

Why Tennessee Vols fans shouldn't be concerned by low transfer portal ranking (atozsports.com)

But by mid-Feb, Heupel seems to have confirmed the speculation, so straight from the horse's mouth...

Heupel explains Tennessee’s approach to the transfer portal this offseason (247sports.com)

You don't become an expert with a quick google search and bravado. Your schtick on this gets old.

Specifically, from the above link:
As part of his appearance at the Rotary Club of Knoxville, Heupel took a few questions from fans, and one question about the lack of portal activity prompted Heupel to suggest the Vols were still dealing with the fallout from the NCAA and internal investigation into recruiting violations by the previous coaching staff and thus intentionally didn't add more transfers to “put ourselves in the best position long-term.” He went on to say the Vols would be more active in the spring. Tennessee added eight transfers after spring practice in 2021.

Quincy Riley was on an OV there this weekend too. Not sure if it’s either/or for UL but notable nonetheless.

L's Up? I know he means Louisville, but that is just an unfortunate comment. Would be better if they changed the school to Wouisville University, or just got somebody with a speech impediment to be their spokesperson.

The latest on Vanderbilt transfer Tyler Steen after NC State visit (247sports.com)

After the former Vanderbilt offensive tackle toured Tennessee on Tuesday, he spent the past few days at NC State on an official visit.

As for what's next, Daris said that Tyler plans is to take an official visit to LSU the weekend of March 11 and then another official visit the weekend of March 25.

"Kentucky, Virginia and UCLA are still there," Daris added.

The Cavaliers hosted Tyler for an official visit back in January before securing a signature from Tyler's younger brother, 2022 offensive lineman Blake Steen. The Wildcats, on the other hand, were the first school to offer Tyler's youngest brother, 2026 offensive lineman Dylan Steen.

As for a decision?

"Immediately after the 'Bama [visit] ... It's getting to be a lot," Daris said. "We are ready to end all of this. At least two more official visits [for sure]. He just wants to learn the playbook, get back in class and play some football."

Apparently AP has hinted we might get him back for an OV, and of course his father (Daris) has never mentioned us despite him taking a UV here last week. So we'll see...

Ok, listen to hour 1 or Swain today starting at 1:00 mark. AP explains it all. Says UT self imposed about 12 scholarships this last year, which means we could only have about 73 on
scholarship at beginning of Spring semester. He said we were at 72 and that’s why we were gonna take Neyor.

With the early enrollees we’re now at 80 and at least 1 more (Chris Ak.. is leaving) so we can take at least 5 right now.
