There have been a few position changes since fall practice has begun.

Vlad Richard-DT to OG
Ricardo Kemp-RB to DB
Austin Rogers-WR to WR/DB
Turk McBride-DT to DE

We must be in need of depth at DB and must feel good about the DT rotation with Mapu coming back.

As I said yesterday, Coker has gained muscle mass to his upper body, but is actually down to 195 from being at 210. He lost alot of body mass but gained muscle.

I thought muscle weighed more? Seems strange. Anyway, I thought Vlad was a little too small to be a guard. Maybe he's beefed up.

That just means he got cut and lost a lot of fat.

This talk about Mapu makes me mad that they forgot about him in NCAA 07.

I would think a sprinter wouldn't have very much fat to lose.

Turk is moving to DE? I thought he was gonna start at tackle next to Harrell.

Is Vlad getting moved a sign that he could not cut it at DT? That's how I take it.

Hence it seems that Mapu is going to be ready to play tackle...

I just can't believe he will be ready that quickly.

I take it that we are pretty good at DT. Either that, or Richard isn't gonna cut it at DT and our DEs aren't as good as we thought.

As for Mapu, you have to remember that he played a whole lot as a freshman despite the fact that his HS had no weight training. He is just naturally strong.

yeah that confuses me too! surely mapu wont start already! he hasnt played in 2 years. you would think that ayers and reynolds were already the clear cut ends, and harrel and mcbride at tackle.... i just dont know about this.

Actually, Ayers is suspect in the running game and X. Mitchell is coming off of back surgery. McBride is our best DE.

Probably says that we need depth at OG since Rawls left.

I don't know. I think Rawls would have been lucky to play from what I hear.

Rawls wasn't gonna play. At guard we have some good names-Foster, Parker, Ligon, McLendon. I'd say Foster will be a backup OT with Richard and McLendon backing up the guards.

With Ligon at guard, does that mean that Frogg may get the start at C? Who did they say got reps at C yesterday?

McNeil will be the starting center. Pope got some reps at center, but I suspect he will play all positions.

I don't think rawls would have played either but richard gives another body in there.

What's up with moving Rogers to CB? I know Trooper is going to a five man rotation but he needs depth at WR. I don't like that move at all.

Well, we have Meachem, Swain, Smith, Briscoe, Taylor, Grimes, Woods and Shelley. I think we have enough depth. Tennessee isn't going to run 5 receiver sets all game.

You forgot about Hancock. The Rogers move isn't permanent and isn't to CB, its to S where we have little depth. He is still mainly a WR.

Shelley isn't healthy, Grimes and Woods were beat out by Rogers as a true frosh last year. I agree Briscoe and Taylor are ahead of him but I think Rogers will be a good WR.

I wouldn't say that Briscoe is clearly ahead of Rogers at this point. Rogers has really caught Cut's eye and I haven't heard much from Briscoe. They are likely at the same level. Whomever has the better fall will prolly be the 5th WR.

Shelley will be fine in a couple of weeks from what I hear. Nothing major.
