Possession + Time + TimeOuts = OPPORTUNITY

I lost a lot of respect for Dooley on that one. I have never bashed the guy because I believe he is doing the absolute best that he can.

But I would expect 20 year old players to panic/buckle under pressure/give up/tuck tail and run in the face of adversity. But for the head coach to do that is not only unacceptable but embarrassing.

If you want to narrow it down to the exact moment Dooley probably lost his job, that would be it. The boos in Neyland were almost deafening.

Dools has been beaten up for burning TOs unnecessarily in the past. Therefore he's determined to keep two in his pocket from now on.

end of regulation game tied 40+ seconds left 2 timeouts ball on the 40 what would peyton manning have done if he was on that field at that moment? he would have took control of that clown show we have for coaches and at least got the team into field goal range if not score an offensive td. these coaches are idiots. i have never witnessed anything like this in my 52 years of life.

Yup, Peyton would have called the time out himself and stayed on the field and converted a game winning drive. In hindsight, I really wish Tyler would have stepped up as a leader of this offense and team and called a timeout himself to make a point that they weren't going to give up. At that point you have to run another play. With weapons at WR with JH and CP you have to take a shot at getting into field goal range. Unbelievable that Dooley just mailed it in on the game, the players, the fans, and the University...Pathetic and Unacceptable.

I absolutely HATED seeing us run the clock out to go to OT.

I guess I'm also the only person here that does understand his thinking and why he did that.

Bray has a history of forcing things at the end of the game and throwing INT's so CDD didn't want to take the chance of Mizzou getting a INT, running it back 20, 30 yards or more and them having 30 seconds to use their passing attack to get the ball in Field goal range and making the FG to beat us right at the end of the game.

CDD also didn't have faith that we could make a Field Goal to win it at the end.

CDD thought that in OT we would have a level playing field with less risk of losing and that we could outscore Mizzou and get the Win in OT.

CDD simply did NOT have the courage or belief in Bray or Palardy with 40 seconds left in the game and thought the odds were more in our favor in OT.

I HATED letting the clock run out to go to OT and I screamed like hell at my tv but I do understand why he did that.

I was amazed that he had the courage to go for the TD with the fake FG play and that it worked so well.

I also felt like going to OT was giving all the momentum to Mizzou and that it sent a bad message to Bray, our O players and to our FG kicking team that CDD simply didn't have enough faith and belief in them to get it done at the end of the game.

This was another game that only 1 bad play by our Defense lost us the game in regulation.

Now we have only 10 big PLAYS by our Defense this season that lost us the games to Fla, Ga, MSU, SC and Mizzou so we were so very close in all those games and that's alot better than getting blown out like we did last year but I'm so sick and tired or moral victories and knowing how very close we were that I could puke.

I still believe the really smart move for AD Hart is to get a solid HOMERUN hire as our next coach or to save the money and keep CDD for 1 more year while he keeps trying to get the homerun hire during next season.

Firing CDD just to get another CDD could set us back, again, for another 3 to 5 years and then we're looking for another coach again.

I'd rather be set back only 1 more year than to be set back another 3 to 5 years or longer.

AD Hart and our big $$$ boosters simply MUST get it all RIGHT on our next coaching hire or our program could be doomed for many years to come and I won't live long enough to see my beloved Vols win another SEC Championship or beyond.

C'mon Hart, get the RIGHT coach with your 1st hire!!!

VFL...GBO!!!

He gave up on his players. There is just no other explanation for it.

In the post-game presser, he said (paraphrasing) he went for it twice at the end of regulation, but theyscrewed it up and didn't execute. Then he said he didn't want to give Mizzou the ball back with time on the clock.

In other words, Dooley specifically said he gave up on his team and his players.

You could hear Tim Priest yelling what is he doing through Kessling's mic.

Tim Priest is a Vol treasure. I think he is one of the best commentary guys out there. I heard it too.

During games, especially when watching the defense, you can tell he has to take time to recover from shock and disbelief to comment on how bad we are and how perplexing Dooley / Chaney decisions are. Plus, you can tell how hard it is for him to watch a team this bad (especially on D).

All around Knoxville last night, this was the thing everybody was most upset about. Fans were beyond furious. I've never heard so many people say, "I'm done." Like someone else said, that's the loudest I've ever heard Vol fans boo our own coach.

I have been saying this the whole time. These kids the university and the fans deserve better than Derrick Dooley is capable of delivering. Now back the dump truck up to Grudens front door and he will be the next coach on Rlocky Top!

That will be the defining moment when we talk about Dooley in years to come. The moment when EVERYONE just said, "enough"
Perfectly said. I have supported Dooley until that moment. He has done the same thing several times at the end of the first half. That bothered me also. But after witnessing it at the end of regulation, with a clear opportunity to win. I am no longer able to supprt him as our head coach.
