Has anyone else heard any noise about Fulmer interviewing or wanting to interview for the Vandy HC position?

Sorry if I'm late to the party, merge wherever necessary if so. I just spoke with a well known (in the Nashville area) and connected Vandy alum who said "Fulmer would love nothing more than to be Vandy's HC."

How many drinks had he knocked down before he said this?

haha haha haha haha haha haha haha haha !!!!!
The game even passes the great ones by at some point. Fulmer will not be coaching again folks. He was great for UT in the 90's and deserves all the accolades he receives, but no.... just no.

I don't see him going back to a rival SEC school. The man bleeds orange through and through even after what happened to him.

I have to say no. As Vandy gets more desperate, the more likely they will be to expand their search to a FCS school coach willing to give the big leagues a try.

Fulmer is just using this to get a raise at his current job. Nothing to see here.

Would be funny, though!

I personally don't see it. IMO, he's out of the coaching game. He made his chunk of change and built his legacy, a legacy he could only hurt a this point, and likely enjoys the more relaxed lifestyle with family.

Doubt he's being considered at all, and I really doubt he'd even take the job, if offered.

Vandy's AD said 20-25 people have reached out to be considered for the position. I have a hard time believing that, even with the program's recent success.

Why? It's a stepping stone job for an up and comer. You win a few games, crack the top 25 and BAM...you're on your way to better gig.

I can actually believe it. What I have a hard time believing is that 20-25 people with a snowball's chance in hell of landing a job higher than middle school would apply. WTH, I think I might just send in a resume. If I get an interview, I'll probably need the help of Volnation to give me an idea for a new slogan.

Yea, what about the guy at Montana State or whatever. They have been pretty good over the last several years. Not Phil though.:nono:

I could see 20 or so high school coaches thinking they are qualified for that job.

There are a lot of high school coaches that apply for jobs. Plus I'm sure college position coaches want a head coaching job.

I don't see how it would help either party.

Fulmer certainly wouldn't want to come back and try to salvage the mess Franklin is leaving. And yeah it's Vandy but if I were Vandy I wouldn't want a guy who hasn't coached in 5-6 years to try to come in and generate excitement. I'm not sure Fulmer has that kind of energy left. Nor would I want Mack Brown for that matter for the same reasons.

Well it was a Vandy fan so I'm sure they think that every coach that has won a national title is chomping at the bit to land the most prestigious job in all of football. I mean seriously guys, haven't you heard, Nick Saban called and begged for the job and even said he would pay them for the opportunity. Bill Belichick is in talks with Bill Gates to borrow a billion dollars hoping to out bid every other legendary coach that is begging and willing to pay to coach there.

This isn't some piddly stepping stone job like UT, ut, ND, Bama, USC or n NFL gig, this is THE Vandy Head Coaching Job.
