man he was in the woods for so long, he had to figure out what to do pretty quick. And I repeat, he came back all jacked up. His shoulders and legs were thick and muscular. We expected skin and bones and it was the opposite.

"Oregon quick", now there's a description that is vivid these days in the mind of a Vol fan.

Hey, maybe that's what we need to do with the football team. Close down that fancy cafeteria and send them all out to the woods to survive for a couple weeks. :)

I lost my best friend today, 4 months shy of his 13th birthday. RIP Sammy

Sorry to hear Bill. My golden is currently 2 and I dread the day years from now when she's no longer with me. Awesome dogs.

Here's our little boy, got him in July.

Sorry for your loss, Bill. That is tough, man.

Cute pup, windy.

No man. I now have tears in my eyes Bill. What happened?

Sorry to hear, beautiful dog.

Thank you everyone.

Behr, long story short, it was lymphoma. He had a gum infection that led to the discovery. He got so weak that I had to carry him in and out, and he wouldn't eat to help get stronger. I fed him with a syringe but it wasn't helping. If there's any blessing, it's that it was fairly sudden and I don't believe he suffered for an extended period. It's going to be difficult not having him greet me every time I get home.

Your well wishes are much appreciated everyone.

I knew he was a keeper when the day I brought him home he was chasing gators....

Some dogs just have a natural instinct to do the right thing! Sorry to hear about your loss Bill... dogs are absolutely some of the best companions.

Bill I'm so sorry for your loss. Behr and I have discussed this in length but I lost my golden Max of 13 years to lymphoma back in July of 2013. I have never been so torn apart by a loss. My wife and I have no children, so that boy was our son.

Goldens are the best companions a man could ask for. My stomach literally hurts for your loss because I remember how it felt. It will get better. I still miss Max every day but after some time passes you will be able to look back and smile when you think about him.

Exactly how I felt when I lost my 13 year old Beagle in March of 2012. I had never been so depressed in my life. I went through a few weeks of severe depression. I then got my golden in May 2012, and it has been an excellent companion.
