1. These were two very evenly matched teams. The difference in the outcome was the special teams play.

2. As to the special teams play:

a) the Gators get credit for blocking the field goal,

B) the UT punt receiver simply made a bad play on the fumbled punt --it happens, and

c) the UT coaching staff should have told your punter not to try that fake from your own 30. That's a coaching mistake, in my opinion.

3. I think both teams have a very long way to go. Only UF's third game and UT's second. To do well, both teams need to make a lot of changes to their offenses.

4. What do you UT fans think of the QB switching and the timing on that?

5. Kudos to Chris Leak for that one drive at the start of the Fourth. Made play after play after play to get the field goal to put us up 9.

6. I was surprised that UT did not make more of an effort to develop a running game. The Gators defended the run well. But I still expected UT to stick to the run a lot more to try to eat up clock and wear down the UF defense. I think you ended up with less than 75 yards net rushing and that's just not UT football. Riggs was great ... when he got the ball.

7. I thought that the players showed mutual respect for each other and that was a nice change of pace for both teams! Allen going over and patting Caldwell as he got carted off the field was very classy.

8. Both teams have got to work on being less penalized. Can't begin to count the number of times bnoth teams just killed their own momentum.

Thanks to you Vol fans for the congrats. I see some threads on here already along those lines. Going to go read them.

...I wish all gator fans were as cordial as you. It's unfortunate that I don't know any.

...especially the one I now owe 50 bucks to.

Yeah no doubt man, you hit it on the nail. I will like to say though I was kinda saddend that Leak went for the touchdown after he knew they had the game won on 4th down. I say tennessee's season is not over, its only one loss. there are plenty of teams that lose one game and still have a hell of a season. the luxury of playing florida early is that no we have enough time to get back into it all. Lets not go and say this is the 2002 team, cause we have only lost 1 game to a pretty darn good florida team.

I was very surprised as well that UT didn't continue to pound Riggs...especially when Mac went down on the DL.

Thanks. I think its because anyone looking at that game objectively has to say UF was lucky to win. Special teams play and turnovers almost always spell the difference when two teams are so evenly matched. Two of those go the other way, its a different outcome.

I agree....Both teams are definitely even. Take a couple plays here and there away and the Vols could have easily won! :peace2:

Good post, lawgator. The better team won tonight.

Thanks, but I am just not sure we are better. Let's say UF played better tonight. I honestly think that if the teams played 10 times this year it would be 5-5.

As much as I hate to say it, when GA is on their game they wipe the field with both of these teams.

this may be a year that the winner of this game does not play in the SECCG, Ga could be a sleeper (yeah I know Vandy is the front runner right now but be serious)

They should have pounded Riggs but Sanders is a moron. How many times has UT been to a BCS game since Sanders has taken over?0000000000000000000000000000000000000.

Great talent on offense but no results.

Well, you know, it is obviously going to be very tought for you to get to the SECCG from here because you need to bascially win out in SEC games and have the Gators lose twice. WE may keep our end of that bargan as UF plays LSU and 'bama on the road and Ga. in Jacksonville.

UT now must focus on LSU. Realize they were in this game to the 4th quarter despite a lot of bad breaks and mistakes.

The coaches are part of the team, too.

I'm impressed that Meyer used the type of offense that is opposite his, ball control instead of explosive, and beat a top 5 team with it.

What makes me feel bad about this one is that we could have taken this one whenver we wanted but never took advantage of it because we were unfocused.

Come on, let's give Meyer credit where it is do. He had is boys ready and they showed up and outplayed us.

Thanks, Milo. I do give Urban a lot of credit here. Especially, believe it or not, on encouraging an aggressive Gator defense. What a breath of fresh air for us Gators!
