WRT #10, I don't know anything about Tony Jones or his coaching acumen, but I wouldn't pin our end of clock debacles on him (I'm also not sure how much interim coaching actually means). That's more or less a hallmark of this team.

Cam played well today, but he is not NBA material. Tobias needs another year to be ready. I don't blame Tobias for being mad on those 2 last fouls called on him. They were terrible calls. Not blaming the refs for losing, but those 2 calls were bad. They may have called the baseline foul as a result of Tobias' reaction to the tie up foul. REVENGE call.

It's happened like that almost every game this season. It comes down to composure on the court as much as anything, and Melvin struggles with that when the clock is running down.

We took the same kinds of shots earlier this year with Pearl at the helm. However, in the past with Pearl, it didn't seem to be as big of a deal to get a decent look at the end of the game. Having consistent, experienced go-to players (Lofton, Chism, Tyler) makes a lot of difference, I would imagine, and we don't really have anyone this year that fits the bill. Add in Goins's seeming inability to run offense when we hold for one shot, and that's what we're seeing.

That's coaching my man. Whether it's Jones or Pearl, it's coaching. They aren't doing their job at the end of games. To not get off a 2 point shot at the of any game this year is pitiful. Brian Williams putback against UGA doesn't count.

Aren't all of these posts, including your own masturbatory gem, useless? The Vols lost. Matters of how, why and whether your mother wears panties really don't amount to anything. It is all just opinion about a fact, but I'm glad my post was more worthy than the game of drawing your attention.

Why is it noticeably worse this year than in the past? Still the same coaches.

This year, our personnel isn't good at executing at last shot opportunities. You can draw up whatever you want, but if Melvin holds the ball at the top for too long and locks up, it won't be pretty. We also have no good #1 option at the end of games, as Hopson and Tatum are inconsistent shooters and Tobias is still pretty one dimensional (even if he does end up shooting last-second threes a lot).

You can blame the coaching staff for not recruiting better offensive players or better types (shooter, playmaking PG). I just don't think the guys we have are going to be "closers" this year, no matter what. Do a better job the other 65 possessions.
