Sab, LV and anyone else who knows, can we start to get a list next Monday of who is actually enrolled at various places so we can quit speculating? Elam and Scroggins in particular should be in school on Monday somewhere.

I think with the quality of players we can pull now, Ralph Williams will not end up being in this class, and he may not be the only "decommit".

With Pete Carroll leaving USC, you have to think TN is back in it for
Demetrius Wright (who was going to announce USC tomorrow and now we may lead for)
Dietrich Riley at S (even though he did not look good in the UA game, he looks like he has great ability)
George Uko at DT (a guy I have wanted forever)
and possibly Ronald Powell DE who had TN third according to some behind USC and Florida, both of whom have no head coach (announcing tomorrow still probably and if he does I am expecting UF).

If Todd McNair is hired as RB coach here to replace Gran, the shock offensive player eventually in this class could be Dillon Baxter, waiting instead of EE and coming to us.

If Sarkisian leaves UW to go back to USC (possible not probable) the only kid it would impact who we would want is Nick Montana, but it is too late I think to kick Matt Simms back to the curb.

Beyond USC kids, we are in it for:

Corey Nelson LB
Christian Jones LB
LeDarius Owens LB
CJ Mosley LB (announcing tomorrow)
Victor Hampton CB (announcing tomorrow)
Corey Lemonier DE
Chaz Green OL
Arie Kouandjio OL
John Cullen OL
Shon Coleman OL
Damien Robinson OL
Torrian Wilson OL
James Stone OL
Blake Sims ATH
Brandon Willis DE (to DT)
Kelcy Quarles DT
TJ Stripling DE
Nickell Robey DB
Demar Dorsey DB (who looked awesome at UA)
Jeffrey Whittaker DT

Kyle Prater would be great and his dad is good friend with the father of our EE OL Zach Fulton, but guys with Thompkins, Ambles and Milton, WR is one of the least "need" positions in our whole class at this point. If we miss on him or Da'Rick Rogers and Trovon Reed I would say we do not get another WR in this class. Kyle Prater may be committing to us tomorrow at the AA game. Boy will Scroggins feel sad every time he looks at the WR we have.

Depending on the combination we finish with and who decommits, we could have the mythical recruiting national championship, but regardless we know that our team with TONS less talent was a good kicker away from beating Bama this year, and unlike Texas and USC and even often UGA we will not squander our talent. When our coaches have 4 and 5 * guys playing next to 3* sleepers they hand picked instead of sweet walk ons relying on all heart, we will beat almost every team we play, and we will beat lots of them badly.

Go Vols!

If Prater wants to commit they will let him I dont care how many WR they have in the class. You dont turn down the #2 player in the nation.

Solid post MHF. I really don't think we'll get any of the USC commits. if we do it'll be Wright or Baxter.

I think we'll see a few more decommits here soon. John Brown may not have the grades, Delvin Jones may look elsewhere along with Ralph Williams. That leaves us with 12 spots ( if we sign and place a few) It'll be a interesting few weeks. FWIW i think Christian Jones could be a surprise commit on NSD.

We agree on that. I am saying that we will either get an elite WR to finish the WR's out or we will not take another. He certainly qualifies as elite.

When people post about a shock offensive commit, Prater is the only one that makes sense. His family already feels comfortable with TN, and he would have a friend here. He is the only offensive player playing tomorrow I can see ready to make the switch.

I would love to get a new RB coach and a 5* RB out of the Pete to Seattle situation.

I want Christian Jones badly. He is going to be a stud.

Where is the Baxter info coming from? Until tonight I had never heard the kid's name come up among UT circles. I realize he may be upset about CPC leaving, but why are people optimistic about him all of a sudden?

Overall, nice post. Sark isn't leaving UW though. 1) USC isn't looking at him. 2) If USC were, the Seattle news would have mentioned it already, and they haven't.

One question, how do you know that D. Wright was gonna commit to SC tomorrow? Prater would be a nice add, but my biggest concern has, and still is our OL. We need to stock up on some beef.

That is what USC fans are claiming. It makes sense. He was set to announce tomorrow between UT and USC. If he was gonna put on the UT cap, then the Carroll fiasco wouldn't make any difference.

Check the list sir. Arie K, Torrian Wilson (who we were going against USF who now fired their coach, and Michigan who his family says is too far away), Chaz Green who is rumored to be a silent, Shon Coleman who grew up a Vol fan, John Cullen who is down to us and UT and who we seem to be slow playing?

We will have plenty of beef.

D Wright is all over the USC boards. Basically Prater, Dillon Baxter, D Wright they were all thought to be a pretty tight group. The biggest reason they wanted to be Trojans was Pete Carroll.

If J Smith knew that we were getting an offensive commitment, I now am doubting it is a USC kid. They are all shell shocked right now...

Tough to change your plans at the last minute. But as outlined above, we make sense as a good fall back option for Prater.

It is related to:
Seastrunk claiming his mom wont let him come to UT (although I have been wondering if this is a false report designed to make his commitment an even better surprise)
Lattimore hating us according to many
Dyer seeming firm as a Barner

And Dillon Baxter having awesome skills and a position coach he really likes at USC who we may be hiring away from there to coach RBs here.

Bissacia (sp?) may end up at USF, and Todd McNair would be an awesome hire for us. He would take over an area that Cregg has done extremely well in this year and ensure that the Cali talent pipeline keeps flowing East.

Thanks man, I agree that Ralph may just be one of many. When we saw Jose Jose decommit, the ones who thought it was bad news for UT were not following recruiting very closely. Every guy we drop from here on out will be replaced with a better player.

The only projects I am aware of that we seem to be looking at are RBs.

It will not be a USC recruit tomorrow, the timing's off. Jacques and Buck's comments were made before the news broke about Carroll.

Oh no, I wasn't saying we wouldn't get any of those guys, just that if/when they commit they will be who I get really excited about (at least at this point). We need OL bad, and getting those commits will be huge.

Agreed and corrected. Nice to read this on the USC board though

"Prominent local high school coach...
out for tomorrow's game says that the commits phone calls to USC assistants are uniformly not being returned and that their is panic. Other coaches are moving in to try and change minds. Not in the newspaper, first hand."

This is from 11:30 PM

Also to make sense of PC leaving I liked reading this:
There was a rift between Carroll and Garrett at the end of the season in the handling of McKnight; 1st time he felt blindsided by USC admin.

i really doubt we have a legit shot at any of their top guys. not trying to be a downer but the only one i can see us maybe getting is wright.

If they open their recruiting back up we have just as good a shot as everyone else.. just saying...

Indiana I think you are discounting two things,

What it will mean if we get Todd McNair http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Todd_McNair (who is not headed to Seattle on the rumor mill). If TN had him we would have more of the successful USC coaches from their best run (Kiffin, Orgeron and Todd M) than any other school in CFB and it would not be close.

and how much work we already put in with lots of them. We are not in it for Ronald Powell, he will be a Gator, but Prater (as discussed with Fulton), Josh Shirley, Dietrich Riley, George Uko and Demetrius Wright are all guys our staff worked VERY hard on before Pete announced he was leaving.

prater eliminated us way before he chose USC. i forgot about uko though. and what are the chances of us hiring the RB coach?
