Potential matchup: Auburn v Oregon in BCSCG

Bama's D is a perfect match-up for what Auburn does on O.

However, Cam Newton could pull his superman routine and singlehandedly carry Auburn to a W.

I don't see it though.
I was thinking that. They're still young, but it being the last game helps.

That 3-4 completely shuts out from hashmark to sideline.
You have to attack the middle of the field because you simply aren't going to turn the corner on them outside.

You can trick them once in awhile and bust outside, but it's not going to be consistent.

The D is good enough to keep one person strictly on Newton and play 10 on 10 and win.

Yeah I think Bama is capable of matching up on D, it's their offense that I'm not sure can keep up. They tend to have long, sustained drives, whereas Auburn scores quickly and in bunches. They'll have to match them score for score and they're not built for shootouts. Then again, these games never go like they should, so Bama will probably throttle them.

See OU-UF 2008. Best offense in the history of college football vs. the best offense a Florida team has ever fielded. UF wins, 24-14.

All bets are off in such marquee games.

Florida's offense was good that year, but Oklahoma's offense was getting similar love to what Oregon is getting now. "Greatest offense ever, could put 35 on the Detroit Lions", etc. etc.

It may have gotten that praise, but it wasn't the best offense in college football history.

wonder how auburn will do in this match-up when they have to send the tennis team.... cause the football team may not be allowed to play.
