Potential OL coach candidates

These posts...smh. We have 1 5 star O line player. 1. We have a few 4 stars but only 2 of them are starters. There is experience and age on the O line but its nowhere near the talent level of like a Georgia or Bama. Not even close. Its getting better but we have to keep winning to keep getting big time players. Its the same thing as the defense the last 3 years, it just keeps getting better and better with the same coaches. Elarbee knows what he's doing.
Cool. How many 5* does Arky have on their OL? How many 5* OL does Vandy and TAMU have? Seems like you are saying the only way a position coach can be good is if he has 5* everywhere. Is that what you are saying?

If that tunes out to be true then we are screwed.
True. I hope Heupel will put the Vols and his career before friendship. Many friends have asked me to hire them and I’ve told them I would but if they mess up and embarrass me, I’d fire them personally. Needless to say, none of my friends have taken me up on the offer.

I’m not saying he is. I’m just saying Heupel will allow the ship to sink before he fires his buddy.
Ok. I disagree because I know the OL coach isn't as bad as you say. We've been a great running team the last 3 years. I don't think you have any understanding of it all. Considering none of the best teams can afford to lose a LT. Since the inception of the portal and NIL, quality depth at OL has shrunk significantly with the big boys. Why? That highly rated guy in reserve has moved on to another place where he can play and get paid more money. Parity has quickly sunk in for college football and it's a good thing

I think we all can agree that Elarbee just isn’t getting the job done. Now I know it’s highly unlikely that Heupel gets rid of him. But let’s say he decides to. Who would be some good names to replace Elarbee? In my opinion, the OL is just as important as the QB, so spend some serious coin on getting a top notch OL coach.

Grant Newsome- Michigans OL coach. I hate UM but you can’t deny his ability to coach the OL. Back to back Joe Moore winner.

Stacy Searels- UGA OL coach. Almost every year UGA has great OL play.

Brad Davis- LSU OL coach. A good OL coach.

Jim Harding- Utahs OL coach. Utah is a good team and they typically have solid OL play.

Brandon Jones- Missouri OL coach. Laugh all you want but they typically have good OL play that’s very physical.
Didn’t know we had an opening.
You might want to check with CJH before making any offers.

Ah, I thought you were about to say I didn’t understand OL play at first. Heard was pathetic Saturday night. Campbell wasn’t much better. I’m not impressed with the line. I’d take any line from the 90’s over this line any day of the week and twice on Sunday’s.

I wouldn’t say we’ve been a great running team over the past 3 years. We’ve been very productive but I haven’t seen a Travis Henry or Jamal Lewis for sure. They were great and ran behind lines far superior to this line. Although different style of offenses which affects run production.

I agree about the NIL. It’s for sure spread the wealth which will eventually bring the Bama’s and Georgia’s back down to earth.

You apparently are working from a limited perspective

The OL or run game? Which OL in the 90’s was worse than this one? Which RB over the past 3 years was better than Lewis or Henry?

You have your perspective and I have mine which is great because neither of us aren’t much into group think. We think for ourselves therefore we have different perspectives based upon the evidence we submit to. Bravo.

I never said our running game was better than our late 80s or 90s. I justed stated a fact about our rushing offense in a spread offense era. All those things are true. Your points and mine, but we're taking about details of this era specifically. We beat Alabama with long pass plays two years ago, but we set it up by gaining 184 yards on the ground. They had a top 2 rushing defense at the time.

Heupel isn't perfect but he evolves as a coach

Yes he most certainly is the problem. How many guys that he has recruited out of HS are playing in our OL? And mind you it’s year 4.
His first year doesn’t really count due to the timing of the transition and is why we don’t have a junior class. If the OL sucks next year, I will agree with you. Until this year, I have thought he has done a good job.

Elarbee can’t develop. It’s year 4 we should have results. Bad thing is next year will prob be even worse losing mays and spraggins. Sadly we won’t see a change tho

Some folks just whiney-butts, with all the complaints & "expertise" but NO real answers. Wife used to have a picture over her desk that read: No use getting into a vomiting contest with a buzzard". Good luck with your "discussion" with that guy.
The real answers…..Every team in the country can be beat! When they get beat it’s easy to pick apart a team. Welcome to parity in college football.

Sam Pittman when he gets fired from Arky.

Please provide some examples. I know they exist. 👍

Do you know why I'm responding late? Your answer could pop you over a little hurdle
Funny how you can’t really make a compelling argument for Elarbee being good besides “oh people on message board think they know blah, blah, blah, blah.” Try something original for a change.

I'm saying he's not as bad as some of you think. It wouldn't bother me in the least if Heupel got some new blood, but that's still not going to fix things when we have injuries. It's going to be hard for any team to field high quality depth on the OL when injuries occur to front line starters. Especially at tackle

Wait, are yall serious?
Heard is the problem. He's not what we thought he was and got abused. Elarbee is a good OL coach amd a good recruiter.
He's had trouble developing good OL. karic, Davis are awful, spraggs and Mays haven't gotten any better either

Doesn't matter. As soon as an OL has a bad game, you get that faction of fans screaming for the coach to be dismissed and replaced.
Finicky bunch of women if you ask me.

Arky and candy have worse records than us and. Texas a&m has more talent on the offensive lines but the same record?

Arky should be an undefeated team right now and has played a much more difficult schedule than us. Vandy has exactly 1 more loss than us and they just beat Bama.

So is your take that a coach cannot be good unless he has 5 all around him? Look at the job Garner has done. Yes he has gotten some 5* guys but he has taken what he has had and made them significantly better. What OL has Elarbee took and made significantly better besides maybe Wright?

Garner took what he had and made it significantly better and also had significantly more talent to work with. Linebackers look 10x better this year... because they aren't injured and have significantly better talent now. DBs same story. I don't think coach would just accept mediocre coaching. Could be wrong i guess.

🤭 Not really. You and yours didn't advocate him coming here for his first go around. He nailed the top recruits from Georgia and was rightly praised during his presence in his first stint here. His departure hurt the Georgia connection. He wanted to pursue DC opportunities but that didn't work out. He's better as a position coach and big time recruiter. Of course we wanted him back, but not until he wasn't seeking DC
I never wanted him to leave the first time. GBO

Yeah if you agree with yourself. Coaches can only do so much where effort and talent is concerned. It’s real easy for armchair coaches, like yourself, to determine a coaches future based on one bad game by all involved. This one is on the whole offense dude.
