Potpourri

I wonder if she was married to Cameron Crowe at that particular time in 86? Perhaps, if the tumblers of time tumbled a little differently, the two of you may have gotten together...

In any event my friend, it is a hell of a fine memory of what may have been...

Sorry GT, I inadvertently hit a 6 instead of a 2,,,my bad,,,1982
I was 22, just about to ETS from the Army
Heart was doing their greatest hits:live tour

I saw that tour, I was 19-20. It was called something else, but I can’t remember now.
they did all of their songs from the album called "Greatest Hit live" it was at the Freeman Coliseum with an opening act called Savvoy (or something like that)

They also did a "world tour" during that same year

Ok guys, here is the only "Heart" story I have.....

In 1978 I was sitting in an adult entertainment establishment in San Diego, enjoying the local dancers, when the song "Straight On" by Heart, started loudly blasting through their sound system....

I had never heard this song before, but I liked it's strong sexuality overtones.....Suuddeny, this tall, sexy long black haired vixen, came on stage and started strutting toward me...Her steps were in perfect time and unison to the song....As she strutted about the stage, she lost various pieces of clothing, until it was "Hallelujah Time." I was more than mesmerized and extremely pleased....

When her set was over and I was about to leave, she appeared behind me and wanted to know who I was and why I had not tipped her, like the rest of the patrons....She asked me if I liked what I saw? Now being a veteran of lovely women I knew not to let them know how fast my heart was really beating....So I played it cool and showed some interest, but not too much....

Anyway, one thing led to another and about a month later she moved in with me....She brought with her all her albums that she used at the clubs to seduce men's wallets'....Her favorite money maker was Hearts, Dog and Butterfly album, which featured "Straight On" as it's vanguard song...

Need to retitle this thread to Penthouse Forum
Coach, it was so bizarre when you brought up Heart and your interaction with Nancy Wilson....Whenever I hear their music, I always remember how I met this far out girl from San Francisco (name withheld)...

She lived with me for almost 5 years...She was into Astral Projections, and EST (Erhard Seminar Training), which was very popular in California at that period of time...People actually paid to be humiliated on their way to a better whatever....

I never felt I needed those gimmicks of that day and time...That was always a source of disagreement between the two of us, which finally undid what kept us together.

GT pretty much all of us as young men who lived "of the world",,,(not those who lived scared lives),,,have that moment, or moments, in our younger times...I can recall Rita from Pensacola,,,"Lady Butterfly of the "Dollhouse lounge" on Harry S Wurzbach in San Antonio,,,and going to "Mi Tierra's" with 5-6 of the dancers at 2:30 AM for a late night dinner...But those are my stories, my memories and not something I will detail in a basketball forum

This thread began with varied interests and topics and has become an exotic forum. You (and I) have much more in stories in our lives than just steamy exploits. Hopefully you 'll take this in the right way,,,Love to you Bro ;o)

Cool story bro!.........met lots of nice ladies during my time on west coast.....yrs ago!!

In eighth grade I "went steady" with approximately nine girls during the school year. One prospective romance lasted for three class periods until a friend of another suitor approached me with a better offer that afternoon.

Barely got to know any of them. The idea of having to eat lunch with their girl friends and endure all that girly talk wasn't too appealing, either. I think I got to first base with one, although one of her friends assured me that the sky was the limit, as Tom Petty would say (that was before she dumped me for a leather jacket-wearing tall guy who had been "held back" for two years).

Most confusing year of my life. Never did figure out what was going on the entire time. It was like a fever dream.

Thus endeth the saga of my year of living dangerously.

love it Creek,,,simply love it.... I had my "Winnie Cooper" in the 7th grade

If you find you have a little time to kill, look on your movie stations guide for the movie "Moondance Alexander.." It's a lot of fun and made for the whole family.

I remember when Goode Creek Symphony was on Midnight Special. All of Rogersville, TN stayed up to watch. I was working there at that time.
I was a warehouse manager in Chattanooga....My sister told me that Goose Creek Symphony was playing at a local bar, and she would pick me up after work (5PM) so we could catch the group at 7.

I was wearing business casual (Khakis and a polo shirt) when she picked me up.
We drove past the city of Chattanooga to a little exit called "Whitwell", got off and went a few miles and saw the turn off for the bar, "Crickets lounge"...We went about a mile down a dirt road to an opening...there in front of me was a small bar and about 100 Harleys. She pulled to a spot and I looked at her in disbelief and said, "Linda , look at wtf I am wearing,,,I am going to get killed".

Needless to say I didn't get killed. I had met Charlie Gearhart and Paul "the Pearl" Spradlin before and sine we knew the group, no one bothered us...We drank Jack and cokes and sang every song as if we were in our own backyard,,,had a great time and an unequalled memory

Wow! Just got a call from the little Wifey who is up north visiting a kid and grandkids. She let me know that another kid of ours was just fired from her job because 4 people she was in charge of made some kind of statement in a chat room online. Don’t know what it was about but it sucks that kidlet lost her managers position over somebody else’s crap.

OK guys, as requested by Rooster....

I was a fairly decent snow skier and had been going with this fine ski bunny for several months...I made reservations for us at Lake Tahoe and we were all set to go when she broke her ankle riding her son's skateboard...She was done skiing for awhile.

Well, she talked me into going without her (the deposit was not refundable at the lodge) so I flew up to Tahoe for a few days of skiing at Heavenly Mountain Resort, by myself....I had bought new gear for the trip, both for skiing the slopes, and lounging around the fire when the skiing was done for the day.

I eventually went to the lodges communal hot tub, which was where most of the people were gathering for stimulating conversations and whatever...The whatever was pretty damn good from where I set in the hot tub...Again, I was alone, so I mostly just set as low as I could go in the bubbling water, and just observed...

The girls at the tub were "very aggressive" with their husbands or boyfriends...Probably brought on by the liquor they were drinking and the high altitude...They did not care who was watching, so I did not want to disturb their public amorous ways...That would have been rude of me....

The next day I recognized one of the young ladies from the tub (she was single with friends) as she was getting into a lift line...She had the kind of shape, great butt, that has always driven me half mad....I just casually got in line about 2 chairs behind her. I did not know this was a double black diamond chair lift..I noticed the lift kept going up and up, and we were above the tall pine trees.....

When it came time to ski out of the end of the lift, I knew I was in trouble...The girl I had been following had disappeared into the mountain mist, and I was alone at the top of a mountain slope/run I had no business being on...This run was way above my skill level, and I knew it too...

I did the only logical thing I could do...I pulled over out of the main ski trail and adjusted my ski boots...In reality, I was just buying time hoping I would suddenly somehow materialize back at the lodge...Of course, it did not happen...

It took me the better part of 2 hours to get down that double diamond trail...I would ski a bit and then sort of throw myself into the soft snow if I got going too fast; which was way too often....I tried stopping like I normally did, but the speed and steep trail degrees would just flip me over, again and again, so I just learned to throw myself down....It was safer than being flipped over...

Finally a ranger from the Resort showed up with a snow cart for bringing down injured skiers...He said people had reported this guy (me) in trouble on the slope...I was so embarrassed, but still had my pride...

I told him I would ski down with him if he did not go too fast, which he agreed to do....After all, he was dragging a snow cart behind him, so he was limited, but man he sure could ski.

He was a cool guy and I told him how I happened to get on the wrong lift...I described the girl and what she was wearing that day, plus her shapely backside...

He told me who she was, especially by the backside comment, and she was on the U.S. Olympic Ski Team...She was a downhill Alpine specialist...She could ski circles around him...She was a pros pro. Man, did I feel dumb...I eventually saw her on a winter Olympics' broadcast...She was fantastic.

Incidentally, Heavenly Meadow is where Sonny Bono got going to fast on a slope and hit a tree and died...Skiing is very fun, but always dangerous.

I know where Whitwell is and I understand your apprehension going into a biker bar there!!
Goose Creek Symphony ...haven't thought of them in years....certainly wouldn't have guessed they ever played there!! Were there local ties??

What a great story GT!!
If you spend enough time skiing n the mtns. you'll make the mistake of getting on the wrong lift for your ability!
My story wasn't as fun as yours but, I got on a lift that took me to a black run with moguls as big as VW's. After tumbling half the way down, I took off my ski's and walked/slid the rest of the way. Never been so tired!

JustFun, I went to Breckenridge Ski Resort, in Colorado, with a girl I had met on her vacation, while she was on a beach in San Diego...She invited me out to Breckenridge "to do a little skiing" with her...Little did I know she lived just a few miles from Breckenridge and had been skiing there since she was a small girl....She was an expert and skied on her college team.

At Breckenridge she took me down a trail with numerous moguls, very much like you described...She flew through them like they were no bigger than backyard ant hills...I followed close behind her, but only for a short while...I bounced on my butt and face a few times...Of course, she had a good laugh when my goggles broke from a hard impact in the not so soft snow...I did what you did....I took off my skies and walked for a while, at least until I got through the mogul mine field.

The things we do for love, especially if they have a nice backside....
