"On this occasion, we celebrate the holy month of Ramadan and we also celebrate how much Muslims have enriched America and its culture in ways both large and small," Barack Hussein Obama.

The president also recognized the first two Muslim lawmakers in the US Congress, Keith Ellison and Andre Carson.

In a message marking Ramadan last week, Obama pledged "concrete actions" to renew ties with Islamic countries, less than three months after his historic address to the Muslim world in Cairo.

"I want to reiterate my commitment to a new beginning between America and Muslims around the world," Obama said in a video address posted as the world's estimated 1.5 billion Muslims prepared for a month of fasting and reflection.

I fail to see how islam has enriched american culture, perhaps one of you Barry supporters can enlighten me??

Barry on record.

Its amazing that we can celebrate Ramadan in the White House, but don't dare celebrate Christmas or Easter! Where in the world are the aclu, the rev. Barry and others demanding "seperation of church and state". I have my own theory as to why no one worries about Islam, but are worried about Judeo/Christian teaching, but thats another forum.

What's that tree called they get and decorate every year in December?

What do kids look for on the Whitehouse lawn each spring - they put them in baskets.

Unless he bans Christmas or Easter this is no story what so ever. Mountains out of mole hills.

What does a tree or eggs have to do with Christianity? Those are secular images of the Christian Holiday.

I don't really care but just pointing out those things have nothing to do with the religion.

What is secular about Ramadan? Do they have any fictitious creatures, any trees or something that separates it from the religion making it secular?

Easter and Christmas actually have nothing to do with Christianity whatsoever. They were pagan festivals "borrowed" by the Catholic church to try and get said pagans to join the church (that's the short paraphrased version). Kind of like these companies that take a video game and make a "Christian" version of the game.

I don't see why people who refer to themselves as Christians give two craps about the holidays because again, they have nothing to do with being a Christian, at all.
