Feel really bad for family. No need to pray because if there was a god this kind of stuff wouldn't happen.

Lost my best friend in high school to suicide. I know what his friends and family are going through and there is no word that can describe the immense pain and suffering. Prayers sent.

suicide. man that's tough. i've had numerous friends take their own life growing up. although I completely sympathize for the family and anyone touched by this, it's such a hard thing for me to understand. i've never suffered from what most would call "deep depression" or had any other mental issues, but I cannot fathom how death is a "easy way out." I'm sorry, there are just too many other options, and its usually never as bad as it seems. there must have been some serious underlying problems. all i can do is pray that the family find peace.

Mental illness affects adults, too.

To feel no sympathy, thinking suicide is a selfish act, is just ignorant.

Don't feel sympathy for the act of suicide. Feel sympathy that the mental illness was so severe, that whatever he was dealing with on a daily basis made him feel as if he had no other option.

Who said I didn't feel sympathy? Dude get you feelings off of your shoulder. Don't start a fight with me on this subject. This ain't about me or you. A guy killed hisself. I'm going to visit his family tonight. No sense in arguing about a suicide. But who knows. I'm ignorant right?

Very tragic news. If only this could have been prevented. There is a lot of effert going into teen depression and teen suicide, maybe we just need more of it.... After things like this it always makes u wonder if anything could have been done to change what has happened. These kids have so much pressure on them these days they don't get to enjoy being a kid. My thoughts and prayers are with his friends, family, team, and school. Such a sad story........ And please everyone be respectful when talking about this. Put yourself on the other side of this bc the ppl that can relate to this know how bad it hurts and it will make u second guess everything u have done as a parent, friend, brother, sister etc.

This is so true. I faced this with a sibling. We had found out a few year before, she had been abused by a female baby sitter. I have seen in threads folks saying it is so selfish to take your life ect. I am not saying it is a good thing but ignorant comments are just that. You never know what frame of mind someone is in when they act in a moment such as this. It was something as a child my sibling had to deal with by herself. It was 10 years later we found out about it. Two years after that, it was more than could be handled. Please just say nothing if you have nothing good to say.

My first sentence was in response to your post. The rest of the post was in response to the post that you quoted.

Relax.... get my feelings off my shoulder? hisself? You're trying to make yourself look ignorant, but I never called you ignorant.

Just thought I would update this. Gant's high school went on to win their third straight State Title. I am glad they were able to pull off another title, a great story to hopefully help the community heal.

Hats off to those kids and coaches for that amazing feat under the circumstances!
