Predict Starting 5 - end of December/start of SEC play

Hard to predict! This upcoming year's team is going to be deep! It may take some time to find the best group that plays well together. But we have a lot of good pieces and depth shouldn't be much of a drop off.

I do think though that some of you are underestimating Cameron Carr. The kid is a pure shooter. He is someone you want on the floor to as he can go off at any moment. I think he implements himself in the lineup as the season goes on and is a key part of the team by the end of the year.
I think people are underestimating Carr and Estrella too.

Just what is the timeline for Zeigler to return at 100% ? Seems like the knee injuries we see today the player is out 12+months sometimes even longer.

I think the science of repairing knees has steadily improved over the years. I have never had knee surgery, but my wife has. Her progress was fast and steady and she was playing tennis well in about 6-7 months after surgery. A Lot depends on the severity of the injury, the skills of the surgeon, the skills of the trainer, and the attitude of the player. I think ZZ will be fine by the start of the season.

Yes, but how willing are coaches to gamble on the health of a knee, when a career is on the line. Some coaches will not care on iota! But I am betting that RB and staff WILL take a conservative approach.
And ... I am GUESSING that ZZ is going to put more stress on that knee ... cuts, twists, stops, starts and bends on his knee than your wife does .... with that said, I hope ZZ and your wife all the best on their surgically repaired knees.

I've had 6 myself. Each one is vastly different. Came back from some in 3 months (clean ACL tear) and other's took 18 months (ACL, MCL, PCL, LCL all at once). Really hard to say.

I think ZZ will be fine long term due to his size/stature but I'd say it won't be a matter of "healing" for him, it will be mentally trusting it. He moves fast and it's going to need to feel 100% for him to be successful on the court. That takes time.

Rick Barnes talks new Vols, offseason development, more
An Abridged version:
Awaka at U19... great experience ... hope he gets confidence and grow from it
Dilione at U19 ... made it to the last cut ... disappointed ... came back... terrific attitude and working hard
ZZ ... trainers say he is ahead of schedule ... coaches are going to hold him back till they believe he is 100%
Z claiming the repaired knee is stronger that the right one. :^))))) ZZ is impatient and itching to do more. ZZ thinks he is ready, but the coaches timetable is gospel!
JJJ and Santi great leadership. JJJ disappointed with last year's performance. He is loyal and loves the university.
Knecht is a gym rat. Working on our defensive system. He will figure it out quickly.
JP he has a competitive spirit. Lacks consistency. He is adjusting to the physicality and the grind.
JM his jump shot has improved, but he has not been in Ktown that much this summer.
DJ ... most athletic player on the team. he is still a work in progress.
Cameron Carr, he can shoot ... but still too early to tell.
Chris Ledlum ... injury????? It is mentioned as an aside so likely a minor hiccup.
Gainey and Ledlum ... the good news ... they both know how to create their own shoot (yippee!!!) ... the damper .... they are still learning the system. Attitude, work ethic, and blending is great. Both are gonna add a lot.

I take full responsibility for the adlibs and the interpretations I place on RB's wording. I have heard it before and I did make some assumptions. :^)

Not a bad take…I wonder if JJJ plays mostly 4 thus bumping Awaka to the 5 behind Aidoo which also helps space out the floor.

Zeigler/Dilione
Santi/Gainey
Knecht/Mashack
JJJ/Ledlum
Aidoo/Awaka

Bench: Estrella, Jefferson, Carr, Phillips
So does Jefferson fall into Ledlum's spot now? Or does Estrella get time at the 4?
