:eek:lol: at all the people chalking up Troy as an easy victory. UT better strap up for that one.

Mmm...Mizzou would probably still beat troy (in one of those closer than it should be ones); but yes - unless UT just quitgs - we should beat them...similar to the sense of your first statement

In retrospect this was a good call...... Dooley did indeed quit and we lost

When did he quit? The O had chances to put the game away in the 4th and they didn't. It wasn't difficult to see he didn't have confidence in them to do it in the last min. Tell me when in Bray's career did he give u confidence to pull off a win like that?? Dooley simply preferred to take the game to OT instead of take the chance of something wrong happening. That's not quitting but making an executive decision.

What from the past 3 years makes you think this is going to happen? After 3 full seasons of regularly showing up ill-prepared, it's just going to all of a sudden happen against Vandy after the season has long since been in the tank? Doubtful IMO.

Dear Vince and/or Barbara-

He decided to take the strength of his team off the field with about 30 seconds to play and only needing about 30-35 yards to at least attempt a field goal. Everyone knew his decision was ridiculous given how he was booed. He favored relying on the worst defense in school history to help him win at home in OT when his offense, which was one if the better ones in school history, had a very good opportunity to win in regulation.

Thus, in many people's eyes who actually know football, he essentially quit on the team. So, not only could he not recruit and even remotely begin to rebuild a down program, he once again showed that he was nearly as awful an in-game coach.

Only you and about 3 other guys I can think of on this board think that was the right move.

Sincerely,
Actual Vol fan/not Dooley relative

Going to OT was the right move....

Even if we made it 35 more yards in under 1 minute no way our kicker would of made it.

And u risk a fumble or interception on Mizoo side of the field.

Couldn't possibly disagree more. You don't pull the strength of your team off the field with 2 timeouts and plenty of time to get in good field goal range off the field.... in order to rely on the weakest defense in the history of organized sports in overtime to keep a hot offense/qb out of the end zone on a very short field. At that point Mizzou had all the momentum, the defense was completely gassed and ineffective as usual. Mizzou was ripping off 10-20 yds on every down.

Best bet was to try and win the game in regulation, on your home field, with the strength of your team, with 2 timeouts and only 30-40 yds to get into fg range. If he misses, he misses. You at least try cause if you go to OT, YOU LOSE.. And, the proof was in the pudding. Dooley went to overtime..... And lost!
