Predictions of players leaving early.

Jojo is a hell of a player and I can see him playing in the NBA for a really long time. Not a star player but someone who plays a big role that goes unnoticed.

Kinda like a Patrick Beverly type guy.

He will make his money and have a lot of success at the next level

As for getting drafted, I don't see it. He would be a free agent pick up most likely

KC is 1-and-done. I would be shocked if he stayed.
JJJ and Santi will get evaluated, I would be shocked if they didn't, Barnes encourages this (see: Williams, Pons, etc doing this). But I don't think either is going to leave. Of the two, JJJ is most likely.
I don't know who "Barns" is.

Barns is Mayshak’s coach. He did a radio spot with Bertlecamp.

I personally think Vescovi potentially going pro overseas isn’t getting talked about enough. I hope he stays but wouldn’t surprise me in the least if he decides to get into one of the professional leagues overseas and start making money.

He’s been traveling much of his life. Hopefully he is enjoying the US of A and would like to stick around a while longer. High Five!

Dude, what? JJJ has been balling his ass off the last 1/2 of the season
The Ringer's 2022 NBA Draft Guide

Recent draft guide doesn’t mention either he or KC. They’ll def get evaluated, but unless they get a first round grade there’s a decent chance they come back, especially JJJ who could finish his degree next year.

I personally think JJJ has a long career as a 3 and D role player at the next level and that someone is going to get an absolute steal with him.

Agree, I think Vesco has hit his ceiling in the SEC (All-SEC--Coaches Poll), and don't think he could improve that much by staying. He had a great year and probably should test the waters in Europe. He doesn't have a NBA body.

BTW-- will JJJ be a true Senior, or a redshirt/covid Senior?

Its not going to be as good of a team, which just depresses me. Freaking Michigan...why does it seem like we have to play perfectly to win a tournament game and watching these other teams well, they don't.
We didnt have to play perfectly, we had to shoot 25% from 3 to win that game, a measly 25%. Instead we shot 11%.

I wonder if NIL plays a role in some players sticking around. SV could make close to what he could make overseas maybe? Depending on draft pick, maybe Chandler could too? Maybe you guys that track what lower round NBA picks get on their first contract could chime in.

Edit: I see there is a whole thread dedicated to Chandler/NIL.

JJJ and SV are exactly the same. They’ve played 3 years and can stay for 5.

Uros is the same. He doesn’t seem to have lost a year by detouring through Arizona State. All 3 are in the same class as well.

Nkamhoua is the same as well. Played 3 years and can stay for 2 more.

Bailey is almost Fulk-like. Played 2 years for Oregon. Sat out his 3rd year as a transfer to UT. Played 2 at UT and gets the first one back with the COVID rules. He can play a 6th year at TN or graduate and transfer and be immediately eligible.

You can't shoot 11% from 3 point range and expect to win many games. You live by the 3, You die by the 3.

BHH has already informed the staff he’s coming back.

Bailey and Powell are most likely to leave.

Doubt Powell leaves, he already burned his free transfer. I don't know why he would want to sit a season when with KC & Bailey likely gone he'll have a less congested path to more playing time. Plus after next season Powell could return as a senior starter on this team (after Santi/JJJ are both graduated).

KC-gone, should be a top 20 1st rd pick
JJJ-will test waters, and if he projects for late first round, I think he would be gone
Vescovi-I dont see him leaving, but he could get a shot in Europe and make some serious money there
Fulky-He gone, thanks for the memories and dedication to UT
Bailey-I feel he transfers
Powell-I feel he transfers again

JJJ would not be wise to try for NBA. He scratched the surface the second half of this season, but if he can play like that an entire season and get stronger, he could play himself into a first round pick next year.

JJJ should test the waters, as he just finished his best stretch of basketball in his career. I don't know that he'd even get drafted this year or next though.

Santi can play in an overseas league and make 6 figures. Maybe even 7 in a few select spots, but low 6 would probably be more realistic. But who knows how much he wants that vs staying st UT another year.

Have had these same thoughts. I also thought he should take the money route as I don't think another year will help his NBA chances. Then I think "but is now the time to go to Europe to play a sports game."? Could end up having to shoot something other than a basketball.

I believe just playing average would have easily won Tennessee this game.

The people who evaluate this sort of thing don’t have KC anywhere near the top 20 picks

Bailey and Powell are most likely to leave.

Since this is a prediction thread, I’ll predict KC goes pro, Bailey leaves, and Powell transfers down a level. Everyone else returns and Tennessee adds one more recruit/transfer.

As good as JJJ and Santi were this season, I don't see them getting drafted
I could see JJJ getting some hits for NBA as developmental player...has the measurables, plays rock solid D and is coming around on his offense game, and so, could see a team taking a flier on him. I think Santi is kinda like Villanova's Collin Gillespie, where he would give himself his best chance w/ one more year. Both don't have the speed or necessarily the D, but both are sharp shooters that really need plays run for them. Case in point w/ Michigan...they clamped down on Santi and he was a non factor in that game b/c he wasn't able to get clean shots. Think Collin put himself in position to be drafted and think Santi could do the same for himself by coming back for another year.

think any might go with Swartz to ECU

I think that Bailey might, similar to ticket last year. I have Bailey as absolutely transferring.

Nobody has mentioned Tamba or Mashak, but I think both have a chance of transferring.

KC - likely gone, but I’ve seen a wide array of projections. I think a late first round projection might alter his decision

JJJ and Vescovi should test waters. Both will likely return.

That’s all I have for departures.

Other off-season thoughts:

BHH has an outside shot and could really develop. Him and Aidoo have the attitude together when they play. A different kind of energy. I think Uros as a mentor brings that right grit. I’d love to find another solid body vs slender big guy.

Powell won’t transfer but he needs help in confidence. He has the chance to grow.

Is Frank Martin coming to coach? He’s my leading candidate to assist Barnes right now.

It’s gonna be an interesting transfer portal. I see the Vols emphasizing big bodies and another shooter (similar to Powell)
