Predictions: Will we get a Current 5 star commit?

Shy Tuttle was a 5* majority of last year and then when he committed to UT shortly after he became a 4*.

The true question is how big is the difference between 4 and 5? Myles Garrett was considered one of the top 2-3 5* in the nation, and a mid 4* named Darek Barnett produced more last year.

Wasn't Preston Williams a 5* when he committed and then bumped to a 4*?

There is always tremendous fluctuation in player ranking over the course of a recruiting cycle. Personally, I will place greatest credence in their ranking, for what even that is worth, at the end of their senior season, i.e. when we have a full body of work to evaluate. One of the reasons that I am not terribly enthralled with the early commitment rush is that you will inevitably have quite a few prospects fly under the radar screen and then burst onto the scene with a huge senior season. Think of how far Kyle Phillips climbed the recruiting rankings last year, just based on his dominating performance in the 2015 Army All-American Bowl.

I'm not talking about a player that commits as a four star that later gets bumped to a five.
I'm asking if you think we will get any new commits that are composite 5 stars at the time they commit?
If so, who?

Brown is our only hope. Hardman is UGA bound and Warrior will be a 4 star. Davis will also likely be a 4 star if he commits.

With us now being unable to make promises of early playing time to all of the recruits, which has been our mantra for the last couple of years, a lot of the blue chip recruits are in a holding pattern regarding committing to Tennessee. And rightfully so. The only way we will pull blue-chip recruits like we have for the past couple of years from this point forward is by putting wins on the board. Everybody loves a winner. If we get more than 8 wins this season, we will finish with a top 15 recruiting class possibly breaking into the top 10. Win 10 games this season, and we break top five again.

I just want a top-10 class. Fl. St., GA, AL and others are there every year and we would be conspicuous in our absence. Perceptions mean a lot in recruiting. Would like to maintain our mo'. Would like to fill every remaining spot with a player of need and five stars...another strong, strong finish for Tennessee.

Our best shot at the moment is with Derrick Brown or Tavien Feaster. We still have an outside shot at Rashad Gary. Gary said he is going to try and visit UT, and if he does, we'll be in play (which is what happened with Feaster). Still considered a long shot, though.

Keep in mind, most of these guys still have their senior seasons to play, so the rankings will shift. Warrior, Davis, Knott, and Hardman could all feasibly become 5's.

Rest assured, whatever happens in 2016, the mother lode is coming in 2017.
