BTW, UGA is an up and down program....WE NEED UGA to have two down seasons!

Not happening.

They have a top 5 coach in the country now. Combine that kind of coaching with one of the best recruiting situations in the country and Georgia will be very good very soon.

I think we get to .500 overall, partly because we're better, partly because of the weak non-conference schedule.

Will we get to Hoover? There are so many new arms I haven't seen and so many pitching roles that need to be filled for us to become competitive on the weekends that I just don't have enough information to form an opinion yet.

I've been saying wait until 2015 since the day CDS was hired. I'm willing to be off by a year.

As others have mentioned, it's going to be all about the pitching. Though I really believe that the season after the one upcoming will be the most promising, I think we'll be much improved this year. The reason for this...offense. I think we will be a much better team at the plate.

I also think we'll be improved defensively, I just don't think Simcox will have as bad of a start in the field as he did last year. These guys should have a better chemistry this year as the bulk of the guys have now played a lot of ball together.

The big question is pitching. We kind of know what we have in Nick Williams, he should be at full health with a fresh arm this season. I feel good about Owenby and it's hard not to feel good about the young Serrano as well. Andrew Lee is another guy...he too should be healthy and his work in the summer and the fall on the hill was promising. Pitching depth is also improved this year.

The schedule is interesting, the first 15 games are at home.

Nebraska-Omaha (174), Purdue (205), Quinnipac (251), and LaSalle (219) all finished last season with dreadful RPI numbers. Appy State and UNLV will be decent tests and of course going to Tempe and facing a top 20 program like Arizona State will be a good measure of where the program is at.

We do have to go on the road and play SC, LSU, and MSU and playing Mizzou at their place in mid March probably won't be pleasant. On the other hand we get Vandy, Bama and UF at home as well as Auburn and UK.

I'm hoping we can get to 14-16, 15-15 or 16-14 in SEC play, I think 13 wins in SEC play would get us to Hoover, but it would be close. It's getting pretty tiresome of having to wait until the very last series of the year, so hopefully we won't be in the position of having to take 2 out of 3 from UF. That would mean we'd be at something like single digit wins going into the finale, I think the board would be in melt down long before that, so I hope that doesn't come to pass.:)

Can't wait for the season to get here! GBO!

Nice summary. As always, very informative and spot on. I appreciate your posts.....

Somewhat agree however many of the GA kids are me, myself, and I type guys. Doesn't farewell for baseball chemistry and success. Maybe CSS can change the culture however for the time being the program might be in a mess.....

I know for a fact that a ACC school will have no more than 1 ECB player on the roster as he calls them "team killers".

After reading every post in thread, I have determined that the women's tennis team will win 4 Super Bowls and finish second in their division.

The UT / UGA Series will be an interesting one at that:
  1. It will be in Athens
  2. The first game will be ESPNU's National Game of the Week on Thursday
  3. About half our projected starting lineup in the field will be from Georgia

"About half our projected starting lineup in the field will be from Georgia"

Ut's kids from GA seem to be good guys.....and a few from the GA roster as well. However many kids coming out of GA are spoon fed bull**** form when they are 12.

Just noticed on the roster that Serrano has lost ALL of the potential new catchers except one? I thought this would be a priority for the upcoming season with Houser the only one left.

The Baseball team will be good enough to make the SEC Tournament but not good enough to make the NCAA Tournament.

Houser may have a tough time holding Schultz from getting the job. We also have the Santiago kid in the pipeline, might be a tough one to hold onto though. Bramlett was a catcher at Farragut, don't know if he's getting a look at that position or not...Maggio seems like he might get the nod at 1B, so maybe Bramlett might be getting a chance to catch.

I think you are right vol66 about Houser and Schultz competing for the catcher's job. Houser showed improvement in the fall games I saw and is only hitting RH now. Schultz is a high energy guy with two years of JC experience and is a LHH. Bramlett is not a former Farragut player as he is from Georgia.

I think this is an SEC tourney team and with that it will get them in a regional.

Thanks for the correction, I must have looked at the roster wrong. Oops.

Just hope that we do better than we have for the last several years. It would be nice if we make the SEC tourney.
