This team won't give up, now up 3-2 in the 3rd. Lotta game left, tho.

... and in less than 2 minutes, it's 4-2...

That's not getting lucky. That's good scouting.

Basically, you're wrong and if you care to know why, there's a long post by me about it in the NHL thread about this very subject in the last couple of months.

The last 20 years will diagree too.

There's a massive element of luck when consensus first-rounders like Hudler and Howard fall into the laps of Detroit late in the second round. And considering the unusually high number of early-round flameouts that Detroit has drafted in the last 20 years, it's awfully tough to shrug and say "good scouting". There were three years (1995 through 1997) that featured not a single legitimate NHL player drafted.

Detroit's success of the last 20 years was built on one draft class that was the stuff of legends (1989), previously acquired pieces being moved out for better ones, and being able to convince aging UFAs to take an enormous pay cut in order to come into the fold.

Great win. Love how they don't quit....The 2nd and 3rd periods are how we have to play Monday night.

Its a little early to say we have the momentum. We haven't played well at home and that has to change monday. We aren't as skilled as them so we have to out work them the whole night if we want a chance and we have to have bounces go our way. Glad I get to watch them at least one more time.

It's not like the Canucks shut them down in Game 6 or anything.

And it's not like the team all of North America said would carry momentum to a series win is watching the playoffs on their asses or anything.

El Nooks wrap this one up in the Royal Province of Opryland and Vanderbilt University.
