Preds talk

Zidlicky is gone like many expected on day 1 of FA. We get a decent RW prospect who is another big physical guy who likes to get in front of the net and score the ugly goals(someone we have needed for a while.) He has a ton of upside, o Ryan Jones is his name lol.

We also got a 2nd round pick for him as well. Now we had a very good prospect, another pick, 13 total, in next years DEEP and VERY good class.

Not to mention we drop Zids payroll and that leaves the preds with the option of going even harder for a good player still available in FA now.

I was not unhappy at all that we lost Zidlicky. He hasnt produced well since before the strike. He was a major defensive liability last year.

Ok so as if Detroit didnt need to get any better they just inked Marian Hossa.

nice. i love it. not only did we get Stuart to re-up, but we just picked up Hossa.

really sucks to be a Pens fan now.

says the guy who believes Tootoo has no offensive touch.

Ryan Jones is going to be a good player. I'm glad we dumped Zidlicky. We are in good financial shape. The Red Wings and Blackhawks will be in cap hell in a few years

yeah, his 45 career points in 232 games and a career -16 sure are great indicators of an offensive player. especially worthy of note are his 2 PPG and 1 PPA in that time.

Tootoo is a popular player among the fans which often leads to overblown hype about his ability. see also: Sean Avery

Jagr's goal and assist numbers have dropped off the last 3 years. however, he's played in all 82 games the last three years, so that has to count for something.

18 points in 63 games playing on a third line with radek bonk and jerred smithson is pretty damn good if you know your hockey, which you seem to....not.

pretty damn good is not having a -8 for the year and averaging .28 points a game. although, compared to his career mark of .19 points per game, you could say he was better.

the guy isn't on the ice because he can score goals. he's the Sean Avery of the Nashville Predators. when he's on your team you love him, but really in the minds of most fans elsewhere, he's overrated.

and i think i've probably forgot more about hockey than you know, so don't come at me with that nonsense.

I bet you I played hockey longer than you have followed it. Sean Avery is not overrated, well he is now with that monster contract. But he has intangibles through the roof like Tootoo. Tootoo will get the other team to take a dumb penalty 9/10 times he gets physical.

like i said. Look at Tootoo's linemates. When he came up and played on the second and first lines for a few games with Arnott and Dumont he was tearing it up.

thank for saying what i've been trying get across the whole time. he's not on the ice because of his offensive skills. he's on the ice to bait the other team.

which is it? he's on the ice because he can score or because he gets under the skin of the other team? he's certainly not one of those guys who can score AND kick ass/instigate.

you played hockey for 6 months? i'm fairly confident i've been following longer than that.

you guys came out smelling great on the Hossa trade last year. he's now playing for another team and you got a bunch of players from the deal.

Yeah, but we finished second to last in the league this year :pinch:

I'm anxious to see how our new coach will fare.

but made the playoffs the year before. you have to crawl before you can walk. i don't keep up with the Thrashers much, but i'd say having the All Star game down there was sure to help bring some excitement. or was it blown off like all other sports in Atlanta?

since i was born. my old man was fan of Gordie Howe as a kid and passed his love of the Wings on to me through my favorite player, Steve Yzerman.

Steve Yzermans not a bad player to idolize.

You just sounded like a Wings fan. BTW for avery to be so overrated you guys sure did pursue him hard.

Laraque says no to the Preds.

Poile had money to spend but everyone else who did over spent and he refused to spend too much which is good but we didnt really upgrade for the coming season. Maybe hes hoping to finish last and get Tavares in the draft. I might trade one terrible season to get that kid, hes the next Crosby/Ovechkin.
