Prepare yourself for any outcome - Saban has set this up perfectly

Now, I will get blasted for this thread but hear me out. How bizarre is it that Tennessee (as a now 9.5 dog in many places) is being picked almost routinely in media circles around the nation? How odd that Tenn is the Moneyline favorite by well over 70% in the latest I saw? And how many times has Saban's team responded to a poor game (see Tex A&M) with a dominant performance the next week. It is ridiculous but he is going to play the disrespect card to the max tomorrow - and the media (and we as a fanbase) have aided that effort. What a laugh that they get to play the no respect card......I'm talkin' about Bama! I'm just warning folks not to be shocked by ANY outcome on saturday. I'm big-time pulling for a win, but in my opinion, we will get their best effort of the year to date. For the Vols to hang close, we will have to match that effort and get some turnovers.
Of course I suffer from BVS, but we as a group have earned our angst. Just strap up tomorrow and celebrate if we win, and be reasonable if we don't. Don't fall into this media/Saban set-up trap. And Go Vols. Now flame away as is always done to a voice of reason.

but maybe Coach Heupel is hyping it up himself?

I agree, OP, and said pretty much the same thing in another thread. Then got mocked by a few VN trolls. I'd love to see us stomp Bama by 30+ points, but I think all the Vols hype has just poked a rabid bear. All the same, my hope is our bots de-fang and declaw the beast, whether 30+ points or 1 point. May the orange be with us today.

Way I see it, game has one of two endings:
1. team with the ball last scores to win
2. Bama wins bug

I just do not see us blowing Bama out or winning by 2+ scores. Just like UF game, if we win, it’ll be close and a nail biter. You don’t shrug off 15 years with an explosion.

My biggest concern is the depth that Alabama brings to the equation. Saban has the ability to rotate fresh players into the game with very little decrease in talent. That's the direct result of those deep recruiting classes he's accumulated.

The TV wants more viewers and the bookies want more bettors. That’s your answer to why either of them do anything. We’re a tough match up for them, but they’re 75 guys deep with dudes that could play anywhere. If we can keep Hooker in one piece, we have a shot, but Saban will have ideas about how to make this a hard day. Go Vols. Dump the Gumps.

Hopefully our uptempo style of offense will limit his ability to rotate in those fresh players. If we dont sub on offense then he can't sub in playes on deffense.

Yeah...that depth just completely overwhelmed Texas A&M and Texas this year...🙄

Unfortunately I agree with the op. We get Destroyed today .. Never trust the media and the crowd ..Hope I'm.wrong because my son has took the bait ..19 years old and never seen us beat bama. Everybody and their momma saying Tennessee will win meanwhile Vegas picks bama , and the line keeps moving up. Be glad to eat crow for months but just don't see it .

4 SEC teams in top 10. & UT is one. We belong there BASED ON THIS SEASON & NOT PAST HISTORY! That said VOLS are at home and playing better football than Bama. That’s why I’m picking us and based on anything else.

I hate Satan and Bama that’s the other reason!

Vols 38
Bama 26

Of course all Vol fans want to win and it's possible we will. However, IMO the player talent gap is just too deep and wide so the probability is we won't.
When Gibbs signed with Bama I looked at their roster and already had 6 RBs rated 4 and 5 stars. Their whole team is like that.....4 stars or better, 4 deep.
Teams with lesser talent can beat teams with more talent but that usually occurs when the team with more talent is sleeping and that isn't going to happen today. Bama will bring their best game today.

This - I hope like crazy I am wrong, but rationally, Bama should clean our clock today. If you put a gun to my head and told me to pick one, it’d be Bama to cover - and probably easily. I mean there isn’t a single player on our roster that would start at Bama. not one.
Now, that typed, let’s go kick their butts!
“Then he took his staff in his hand, chose five smooth stones from the stream, put them in the pouch of his shepherd's bag and, with his sling in his hand, approached the Philistine.”

We never seem lucky enough to get Bama on one of those days where they are playing down ( sloppy/unmotivated/playing poorly etc) By the time they play us, they've usually gotten that out of their system. The exception being the game a few years back we lost on the last play when they blocked our field goal attempt Shoulda won that one.

It's kind of funny how for both us and Alabama this game is meaningless as far as the SEC goes with them in the West and us in the East. Either one of us could lose today and still have a shot at an SEC Championship. But the prestige of us getting a win today and the momentum... And of course they don't want that streak to end. They know we are their oldest and biggest rival.

Yes, big for both but HUGE for us in multiple ways, not the least of which is recruiting.

I have been keeping the same thoughts in mind as the OP. I want a win as bad as the rest of us. But if we loose competively close, I am
Still riding the Orange wave. We are still in good shape if we loose. Just need to win out and that is possible. Hell I happy with a 10-2 season as I thought that not possible when the year started. Enjoying the ride.

I think CJH coached last year's game on his heels.
It was a learning experience and I do think he will grow from it.
Our TOP has got to be in the Mid to high 20's
CJH mentioned today that we have to stay out of 3rd and long situations. Last year our conversation rate was 2/13. We only rushed for 65 yards.
I trust the Staff has adjusted and it will not be a repeat.
The Defense wore out and we are going to have step up and keep them off the field.
Catch a turnover or two and it helps.
It's a winnable game
The Neyland Spirit returns. Banks and RG are keys on defense. Hope they have been War Gaming.

If our OL can slow down the pass rush and give Hooker time to throw we have a chance. If not we could possibly lose big. Just my opinion.
