President Donald Trump - J.D. Vance Administration

You can't collect to an unknown target. It's what we're currently doing and it's a failure. Revenue is higher than it's ever been and the previous admin was running deficits at $2T. We simply don't have a revenue problem if there was limited govt
True. I heard a statistic (haven’t verified its accuracy) that with current revenue, if we merely returned to 2019 spending levels, we would actually have a balanced budget.
Financial solvency MUST begin on the spending side. It is out of control

It would be popular with a select few but most wouldn't GAF. They know any plan longer than 4 years is BS.

Nope, 20 years is 2-3 different administrations who would scrap the plan in order to make promises of free chit.

I disagree. I think that the vast majority of people know that we need to deal with it and that we need to start a realistic discussion of how to do it.

Ok tell me how that's possible without a target number that you can't go over. I'm all ears on your plan to fix spending

I confess I haven't done the math. I would think it will be very complicated and there will be hiccups along the way, economic downturns leading to less collection, emergency spending, and sometimes the opposite, higher collections, lower spending.

It will be a constant give and take. But that is no reason not to start the process.

LOL Come on, look at the presidential elections since 2000 and you really want to believe people are smart enough to see further down the road than 4 years?

Might need to look into people before issuing blanket pardons

Yeah at least Puddinhead was right up front with pardoning his criminal cabal.

cough cough Fauci and The Smartest Man Puddinhead ever met

The Communist Democrats strike again. They're trying to barge into the DOE building.
They have been stopped at the front door & not allowed to enter the building.
They are hollering & screaming bloody murder as usual outside the door right now.
Crazy Maxine Waters is verbally attacking the guy standing at the door pointing at him.

LG voted for someone that probably can't find the bathroom, he came out here lied about it multiples times.... and he is waiting on a candidate that has a 30 year plan. I would think he has settled for a candidates that can find the bathroom in 30 seconds.

He is void of any type of reality.

I do, its just that the candidates all focus on short term because that is what they think works. I disagree with them and think that there is a real hunger for a long term solution.

No presidential candidate is going to come forward with a 30 year plan, this country is run on 4 year election cycles and no candidate is looking further ahead than that.

The first step in reducing the debt is to forbid the government from creating money (basically end the federal reserve) outside of a congressional declaration of war or national emergency. Do that and I'll listen to your ideas about taxes.
Spot on Hog. Just the reality of our society. Politicians understand it.

We need to run annual budget surpluses for years, likely many years, to reduce the debt. Would love a candidate to come forward with a 30 year plan -- the same as the usual mortgage pay off. That would make sense and spread the method over a reasonable period that would not result in a massive economic hit to the economy in any given year.

I like your thought but I would prefer to shorten the period. We are $40T in debt so no matter how you slice it there will be a “massive economic hit.” The question then become, can the Dems handle it?

Conservatives have been ready to go for years.

Trump is the first President in ages to focus on long term solutions. Shrinking government and defanging runaway bureaucracy would be the greatest benefit this country has seen in a century.
We VOTED for this and we are delighted to see a President actual stuck to his promises. I think that is called “democracy”, that word the left lives to throw around.

We'd have a surplus.

To be fair, we'd be right at breakeven if you adjusted 2019 baseline up to factor in wage inflation/higher interest rates.

And remember, 2019 was Trump taking the bloated budget he received from Obama and increasing spending at 5x the inflation rate...

I applaud the goal, everyone would. But how it is done matters and the cure can sometimes be worse than the condition.

Its a lot worse than that. Its showing democrats insanity to act in such a foolish manner.
They need to go back to their office & figure out ways how to work w/Trump on this.
This is what I just told my wife. I don't think they have the guts tho.

It would have been funny to hear that guard tell them "No, your job is across the street."
